We usually fly Airtran because of their direct flights. Now that they are added to RAC, I had a question about check in.

We will have a 12 pm flight, so I think I understand we can check in anytime between 5 and 9am? BUT, because seats are not assigned, I always ckeck in on line 24hrs ahead. So do I understand I can't do this and then use RAC?

Thanks!

Sorry, no. We tried to do this a few weeks ago and were not allowed to do so. Once you have checked in online you cannot do RAC. I even asked different CMs hoping to get the answer I wanted. So you will have your choice of choosing seats at 24 hours or doing RAC and changing seats (if you wish) when you check in with RAC. For what it is worth, other AirTran flyers have reported that they were seated with their traveling companions when AirTran assigned seats at 24 hour mark. That was the case with us as well.

That's what I thought. There will be 6 of us this time, so I'll have to debate whether to book Airtran home and take our chances with seats, or book JetBlue where we can pick seats at booking (but add 2 more hrs to flight time with stop)

Thank's for your response!:tilt:

We flew Airtran in Feb. (from ROC) and both on the way there and back our seats were already assigned when to the website to choose our seats. On the flight down I was trying at 24hrs. exactly. I did rearrange our seats because we were 3 + 1 and wanted 2 + 2. For the flight back I went to the concierge desk and they checked that we did have assigned seats and printed out the boarding passes. So... you may get your seats assigned together anyway and you can't beat a non-stop flight!

I have flown AirTran two years in a row for my Disney trips. Both times I was never able to check-in online at the 24 hour mark. It wasn't that I couldn't I just totally forgot to do it. I ended up having to check in at the airport. On both occassions I was able to get seats together for everyone traveling. I am flying AirTran again for this upcoming trip and am very excited they are participating in RAC. I plan on using that and not checking in early.

Has Airtran been officially added to RAC now? I have seen no other posts to this effect, just that the pilot program that ended in March. I hope they have been added or the pilot program extended as I would love to use it in May.

Thanks!

Garnet, do you fly out of Newburgh or White Plains? I am trying Newburgh for the first time and was wondering if that airport is as easy to get in and out of as it looks?

Never mind, I found the Allears newsletter info!
