QVC -real diamonds?

I SO agree with this.

Diamonds are pretty, I guess. I mean, I wouldn't be bummed if my BF gave me one. But there are other stones I think are so much prettier. I have a friend whose BF proposed with a garnet, her favorite stone. It's prettier than any of the diamonds I've seen. And kudos to her now DH for knowing what her fave stone is.

Personally, I think spending 2 months salary or whatever it is on a ring is ridiculous. I don't know too many wealthy people around here. If my BF ever spent that kind of money on a ring, I'd probably 1. love it and appreciate him but 2. be thinking in my head...omg, that could have been 4 months rent...
Exactly!! My aunt's engagement ring is a garnet, I covet that ring!! I told her that she has to give it to me and not her daughters. Only I could appreciate! lol

I have a diamond engagement stone and a diamond band.
I got an eternity ring maybe 5 years ago from qvc.
My sister JUST found out it is Diamonique!
and I see her a few times a week!

It is very nice jewelry. I have many pieces-the running joke is when someone says "where did you get it?

"it was my grandmother's or mother's" what are they gonna say? "no?":rotfl:

When DH was shopping for my ring his Mom suggested that he get me a diamonique from QVC instead. :rolleyes1

Luckily for DH, he knew better. ;)

Before DH and I got married, we were looking for a ring and I was *thisclose* to buying a Diamonique ring, but I was so afraid of some jerk saying "oh it's not real!" but after we bought a real diamond ring, I end up wearing the diamonique for 2+ years. Go figure. And the kicker-- NO ONE has ever said it looks fake!

The only time I think about the diamond is when we're away from home and I worry it'll get stolen. Ugh!

As you can see by my signature I am a breast cancer survivor. After surgery including axillary node disection, radiation and chemo my left hand is slightly bigger. I bought myself a beautiful 3 stone Diamonique set after all was done just as a pick me up since my "real" diamond set didn't fit anymore. The stones are larger than anything I would have bought real. I recieve compliments everyday on my rings which never happened with the ''real" ones. I just purchased a white gold set because It was pretty. It was a quilt free purchase, it did not break the budget, and it also gets compliments every where I go.
Shame on your coworker for not minding her own business.

Congratulations to you on beating Cancer, happen to be a survivor myself with VERY similar treatment (dbl mast) Anyway, 4 years out and a recent "blip" as my right arm/hand now a bit swollen :sad2: Anyhow, not wearing my regular rings right now and hoping for the best but so glad to hear you found something you loved and you treated yourself!!
Best of Luck to you! :grouphug:
As far as thread goes, how terribly hurtful and tacky it was to mention it may/not be real. Goodness, the importance was the marriage proposal, CONGRATULATIONS to her! But anyone that made that comment really would not have the understanding of the importance of the whole "marriage" proposal anyway.....they'd be concentrating on the material things and trappings of the celebration, rather than the sanctity of the union! Sad for her actually!

oops. My quote got all messed up.

Congrats to both of you survivors!

What a rude co-worker!
When my DH proposed I wouldn't have cared if he tied a bakery string around my finger. I wanted to marry him so badly. I would have worn that string proudly. I still feel the same way. I did get a diamond and yes, I love it :cutie: but I didn't need that to marry him.
I think your co-worker is a butt wad and I hope that you girls told her so.

Yes, it was very rude to say such a thing, but if it is Diamonique -- and it really shouldn't matter to anyone else except the couple -- it will very clearly state "CZ" on the inside of the ring, so I'm sure the bride-to-be knows whether it's fake or not. And if she's okay with it, and he's okay with it, then in this economy, I say kudos to them!

When we got engaged we had to save for a wedding and a house (back when you needed a down payment and closing costs to buy a house) so I specifically chose a lovely Diamonique solitaire from QVC for my engagement ring.

I am still wearing it 13 years later and though we have the $$ for a real diamond now, I just don't see the need.

A friend of mine got a beautiful 3 karat real diamond engagement ring about the same time. They are currently divorced and bankrupt.

Garnet, moissanite, aquamarine, those are all beautiful and IMO would make wonderful engagement rings. Who says it has to be a diamond, or even a piece of jewelry? My mother's engagement ring was a cigar band. She still has it in her jewelry box.

Later in life she got herself a diamond 'engagement ring' (I guess cigar bands don't wear well!) and recently she told me she really wants me to have that diamond as part of an engagement ring when the time comes. Personally, I've never cared much for diamonds. I really would like to have a ring with Australian opals since my guy is an Aussie, but making Mom happy is even better. Maybe I will have a wedding ring with opals instead!

I don't see the point in them they arent that rare and only have the value they do cause companies control the supply

100% true. I have a real diamond engagement ring and diamond wedding band, and a Moissanite three-stone anniversary ring in 14k white gold that I showed DH and then bought for myself off ebay. Guess which one gets more compliments?

I agree. I have a real engagement ring small but nice. I have a 3 carat ,3 stone, emerald cut, Moissanite in platinum anniversary ring DH bought me 2 years ago. I adore my Moissanite ring and it gets the most compliments for the way sparkles!:goodvibes

My wedding set is Diamonique. My DH wanted to buy me somethig real, but at the time we had 2 children ( now we've added another to the mix) a mortgage, a truck note and I really couldn't see adding another huge payment on to our already stretched budget. I love my diamonique ring and no one can tell the difference. Now I get jewerly for almost every occasion, because we can afford the "fake" stuff! There is no way we could have afforded a 2 carat ring, but now that is what I get to wear becasue we chose to be more frugal with our money.

First off how rude can that person be to tell someone "oh honey it's not real then"
So what. And it's not her business to say anyway.
QVC does sell real diamonds- not only diamonique. Particularly around the holidays. Here is just one of their "real Diamond" lines. They also had some special shows that were just what was available kind of shows.

www.qvc.com/cgen/render.aspx/Affinity-Diamond?qp=class|4604&level=2&walk.yah=1001-4604&cm_re=LN-_-BRANDSHOPS-_-AFFINITYDIAMOND

whoever said that should be ashamed of themself. Way to rain on someone's parade without the facts.

You guys just talked me into buying a Diamonique! I've gained weight, and my original wedding rings no longer fit. Because I'm vain, and am convinced this weight will fall off (yeah right), and did I mention delusional, I refuse to get them resized!:lmao:

So I just bought an Asscher 3 stone "forever" white gold ring. It's on some type of waitlist, but that's okay. I hope it'll come through.

And shame on that nasty co-worker! Hasn't anyone ever told her she doesn't have to say every single thought that pops into her head? Sheesh!

Um... it's the thought that counts! Perhaps he was proud that is where it came from!

I agree! :thumbsup2

I must say that I feel bad for the girl and the guy... he did the best he could (who knows how much it cost) and the girl was happy... until a meddling co-worker interjected her two cents. If the girls needs to know more, and is not comfy with asking her new fiance, then on her own she should research QVC's website or pay for a jewelry appraisal, however, she needs to do that on her own... she does not need anymore meddling or interference from co-workers!
You know - just an expression, I realize nobody here actually does know ;) - I have a genuine (appraised and everything) diamond/platinum ring, and a QVC-purchased Epiphany diamond-look/platinum clad ring.

Now, I know the difference, and I wouldn't trust for a second any appraiser who didn't - but (a) my QVC ring looks real enough, and (b) if the ring 'works' for this couple, whose business is it, anyway? I mean, just because a diamond is traditional doesn't mean it's required - wasn't Princess Diana's engagement ring a sapphire? I know mine was an amethyst (shoulda been a clue, but... ;)). Heck, my dad bought my mom's diamond in 1972. They got married in 1945.

I personally think it's ridiculous to spend a huge amount of money on such a little thing as a diamond, when you can get something that looks the same, or better, for way less. I didn't get to read all of the posts, but it's disgusting how people love to tear each other up about something so trivial.

Thanks everyone! Now I am want a new ring!:lmao:
It was pretty crappy. But that co woker is always putting a damper on things.
She also seem to "lets say dog" this young girl. My son always says that.
Has anyone every had their gold rings made to the new platinum.
I keep seeing ads for this, and thinking about it. My diamond and wedding band are both gold. As a teenage I only wore sliver. That was before sliver was popular.

What you are talking about I think is Rodiuming them. It looks great imho but can wear off actually. So you may need to redip them if you wear them constantly- like a wedding ring.

It's not too expensive to do either.
