Had a few question about SSR.

1. Do all rooms at SSR have a water view?

2. Where is the new section being built and when is it supposed to open? What is the view from the new section?

3. Trying to plan a romantic trip for just myself and DH, and we won't have a car to get around the resort, but we're fully capable of walking. We will spend some time out on the balcony soaking in the view and atmosphere, and I like the balconies that are kind of enclosed. So with those things in mind, what section/building should we stay in?

If you have pictures of the views from a particular section, that would be great too!

Thanks everyone. :sunny:

We stayed in Congress Park twice with a view of DTD. It was very nice. Some of the studios don't look out over water since they are located at the end of the building. There is a lot a little ponds around the resort, so there is probably a good chance of getting a water view.

I'd request Congress Park and ask for a view of DTD (which will also give you a water view). Since you won't have a car, Congress Park is the last bus stop before the Springs (which is where all the restaurant/spa/pool stuff is) - so you'll have easy access to all that. Congress Park is also the closest to the walking path to DTD. Also, it has, IMHO, the best quiet pool anywhere at Disney - it overlooks DTD and has beautiful landscaping all around with a little courtyard/fountain. It's stunning at night.

I think all of the original 12 buildings front on water. But as mentioned, the ends of the buildings won't necessarily have a water view. (Usually one end will not have a water view, and the other end may or may not have a water view.)
On one end of the building are 8 2-br lock-outs, and the other end are 4 2-br lock-outs and 4 2-br dedicated. So any size unit can be on the end of the building.

I agree with starbox. I think Congress Park has the best views in all of SSR. And I agree that the leisure pool there is probably the best leisure pool in all of WDW. Congress Park is a little ways away from the main pool, check-in, etc. But you appear to be like me and don't mind a little walking.

Thanks everyone. I looked at a few pictures of the DTD view from a Congress Park room, and it is STUNNING! LOVE IT! :thumbsup2

I also did a search and found a few pictures of views from rooms in the Springs and the Paddocks, and I'll admit, they were also quite beautiful! Well, that's great then because all the views seem very nice no matter what section we end up in.

However, I'm still going to request a non-smoking studio in Congress Park with a DTD view. It just looks so nice. Plus I like the idea of being close to the quiet pool there because I know DH and I will spend some time in the spa.

I do have a question though - Would we be allowed to bring drinks with us into the quiet pool area (in plastic glasses of course)? :goodvibes

Also, once we check in, how do we get to our room with our luggage? :confused3

You sure can bring your beverage to the pool as long as it is in plastic or paper. No glass.

We always drive, so luggage to the room is no problem. But I think they do have some golf carts to transport the guests to the villas.

OH!

BLDG 15 was perfect for us. Stayed there 2 times and our rooms were on the ground level one was a 1br and the other was a studio. The patios were enclosed like and you could walk right out to the quiet pool but was far enough away that the other people using it did not distrub us. We even had ducks both times come up to the patio door and into the room on one time! It is in Congress park we stayed in rooms 1525 and I think 1524 was the studio. Non-smoking. Parked right outside the bldg everytime and went that same week last year that you are going this year. It was for our anniversary too!

jESSE:)

I suggest you arrive early to try to get the best room available. We stayed at the Paddocks which is in the back section of SSR. This doesn't have a water view and it is a good walk to the main theme pool.

Just remember that there are no room (location) reservations just preferences. Room assignments are given out during the day of arrival and it is based on what is available.

Enjoy your stay....

I agree, Congress park has the best view and the best quiet pool. ( My favorite)There are many water views throught the other sections as well. I have never had a bad view.

I think I heard the Grandstand (the new section) will be open next summer. The buildings are located closest to entrance gate of SSR. If you look to the right of the booth when pulling in, you'll see them. This section will have another theme pool and pool bar and food.

SSR is a great choice for a couples get away! Very peacful and beautiful. Have fun! :wizard:

Hi...We just joined SSR 9/06 :woohoo: . We were told from our guide/salesman that phase 3, which is the one we bought into, will open 11/06 and will have a main pool. The theme will be of horse racing so, per Dan, SSR is supposed to have 2 main pools, but I keep reading other things about it so I am a little confused now :confused3. We were also told that phase 4 will open next year with no plans for another restaurant. We are planing for our first trip home 9/07...and we can't wait :Pinkbounc .

YEAH - WE GOT IT BOOKED! :cheer2: (thank you so much Laurie! ;) )

SSR, requested non-smoking studio with DTD view. Hopefully we'll get it. :goodvibes

I am SO EXCITED - our first trip to WDW - and without kids! :woohoo:

I think it's kinda funny though: we won't have kids, which means we can act like kids! :teeth:

That's great. :cool1:

I have been to SSR 5 times and here is a tip....

When you get there if they don't have any "DTD" views, ask for Congress park, pool view , upper floor. You will still get a DTD view just beyond the pool or the gardens. It is a stunning view. I think you will love it! Have fun!

Ooh, great tip! Thanks so much - I'm making a note of that right now! :thumbsup2

Those pictures were great. I had planned a May trip at BCV but when I found out I was pregnant I changed to the only resort open in January-SSR. I know nothing about it and am nervous about it but those pictures helped. I just want that "magical" trip. :)

Disney-super-mom, Here are my favorite pictures. I didn't take them. Put it on slide show and they will change to the size of the screen. The third page has some stunning pictures of DTD at night. :cloud9: Thanks to whomever took them!Enjoy!
Thanks so much for this link! :thumbsup2

You're right, those DTD pictures at night are STUNNING! I sure hope we get that view - I'll keep my fingers crossed. :goodvibes
