We are going to be at disney for a week, where we have sunday to friday inclusive at the parks. (6 days)

we decided that hopping parks probably won't happen with our two young kids, so we opted for the base ticket. But then i decided to do 8 days rather than 6.

Here is my theory: i can see us doing a park one day (ie animal Kingdom) and then after a rest in the afternoon, i would want to go to a park with late hours (and hope to watch a parade or show of some sort)

so my theory was: 1 day on the 8 day pass would go for Animal Kingdom in the morning, and then 1 day would go to say MK in the evening. so i would have used up 2 days of the pass and have 6 remaining days....

is this allowed?
(its cheaper for us to do 8 days and either do 2 days of hopping and not be upset if we don't at all, rather than to do the park hopper ticket which i know we won't get full use out of)

So yea: basically, my question is : Is this allowed. thanks!

I could be wrong, but I believe that it is NOT allowed. A single pass can be used once during a day – you will be allowed to re-enter the park you already visited (with your ticket and handstamp) but not use a 2nd day on the ticket for another park.

WantToGoNow is correct, you are not allowed to do this. 1 park per day is all you are allowed. The ticket will not get you into another park on the same day!! Sorry!! :bitelip:

well that sucks. LOL! i really don't want to pay for the park hopper option for the whole week, when i know it will just be for 1 night for a parade or show, and 1 night for sure for dinner!!! sigh.

any other suggestions?

can park hopper be added on when there, and pro rated? ie half way thru the week we want to add on the park hopper to the remaining days???

and i just want to make sure i am clear: use 1 pass for monday at magic kingdom, use a 2nd pass for monday night at epcot for dinner in world showcase. so we would use 2 days of our 8 days on 1 day...

No, unfortunately you can only use one day of your pass per day.

You can upgrade to the hopper option at any point within the first 14 days of use but the cost is the same as regardless of when you do it.

Here is a better explanation courtesy of allearsnet:

"Am I allowed to use two days off of my MYW Base ticket (non-hopping) if I decide I want to go to a second park on the same day as the first?

No you are not. The tickets are sold and the computer system is based on the number of days you have, not the number of park visits. Once you have used a non-park hopping ticket at any park, the computer system will not let you use it at another park on the same day."

Here is the FAQ - I think you will find it helpful.

Personally I like the hopper option especially with kids. If we hit a park in the am and find it crowded or just not working for us that day we can hop. Usually we do a pool break followed by a different park in the evening.

Have a great trip.

Don't be so sure it's something you wouldn't want to do BECAUSE you have 2 small children. Mine were 5 and 2.5 in May when we went. I paid for the hoppers just for the freedom of it, in case we wanted to. I didn't plan each day out in advance. During our 6 days in parks, we ended up hopping on 3 of those days: Epcot daytime, rest at CBR, then character dinner/fun at MK; MGM daytime, rest at CBR, Hoop Dee Doo at 5:00 p.m., then MK; AK daytime, rest at CBR, then MK. If you intend to have your kids rest/nap/swim mid-day, it makes park hopping a natural -- if you go back to a park later, you can go to whichever one you want!

Disney knows that an 8 day base ticket is cheaper than a 6 day hopper, hence why using two "days" in one day is not allowed. They're good about plugging those loopholes.

THANKS so much for the great reply!

the 'same price ' to add on the hopper sucks..so we would have to add on for the whole week even if we only had 3 days left in our week. :O/

well we booked the hoop de doo revue right now for the day we arrive. maybe we will use one pass that day (since we have extra now :confused3 ) and go into either epcot or magic kingdom to see the fireworks or whatever happens to be on that night!!!

then 6 days between sun-friday, and who knows. maybe we will get a night flight to let us use the 8th day the day we go home. lol (or maybe i will change the ticket to be only 7days!)

We have an 8 night/7 day trip planned for the end of April into the first week of May. My wife and I have AP's so we don't need tickets but our daughter and grandson will be with us this time. I was originally planning getting 7 day park hoppers for the two of them, but when I looked at my tentative schedule I discovered that I had us scheduled to park hop for only 3 days out of the 7 so I redid my plans without any park hopping and will buy only the base tickets. Our AP's have park hopping so if something happens that requires us to park hop we will upgrade the 2 7 day base ticketes when we get there and will wind up paying what we would have if we bought them up front. Since hopping can be added I would rather not pay for hopping ahead of time and maybe not need them.

The park hopper option costs the same whether you have a one-day base ticket or a ten day...$40 plus tax per person.

yikes. well hopefully with very careful planning, we can make it work the way we want to. we will have to focus on what parks are open late what days and when the parades and night shows are etc etc. thanks all for forwarning me!

Thanks Eric for your reply! We really are going to have to sit down and try to plan out our trip. It may be worth our while to pay the $120 between the 3 of us park payers (dd is 2) and have the hopping priviledges. at least i have time to plan it out! i am glad for the advice !

OHHHHHH dh and I have 1 day each from non expiring park passes, i wonder if it may be worth our while to use those for a night, and pay for ds to enter? oh the cost comparisons we have to do. LOL! Thanks again!
