Is anyone watching this on TLC? I actually really like them. Unlike Jon & Kate, they seem to get along really well. The babies are cute and their older daughter doesn't seem bratty. Last week, Casey (the mom) took their older daughter to DW, while Ethan (the dad) stayed home with the quints. This week, the family did a 5k trail run while pushing the babies in a 5 seater stroller! So funny and inspiring at the same time! Gotta get back in shape, too!

Oh man, I missed it? I love this family, they are so cute and sweet. I still hate the idea of kids being on TV, but they are sooooo much nicer that Jon and Kate, well Kate anyway.

So exactly how are those quints a surprise if she had invitro? Did they not tell her how many embryos they were putting in!?!?

Apparently, it's a very short season (6 episodes). They've shown 2 episodes the last 2 weeks and the last 2 next week. It doesn't look good for this show, though. TLC hasn't really been promoting it or showing any reruns. But, I agree with you with the kids on tv thing. It is probably best for them if the show ends.

I like them too!

I really hope they don't become jaded by the fame and turn into Jon & Kate.

I worry about that a little too. The one thing that bothers me when I watch it, is their obvious botox foreheads. Both of their foreheads do not move. Maybe it has nothing to do with being on the show, as she worked in a dermatology office prior to the quints and might just have wanted it.

According to wikipedia, they did intra-uterine insemination.

I am not up on the various fertility treatments, but I don't think that involves putting in embryos--just the sperm. Hence the surprise of 6 (But only ending up with 5).

Still not a surprise as she had to have been on fertility drugs to release more eggs to better her chances of conceiving using IUI. If you undergo this stuff with medical intervention, it's not going to be a surprise if you have multiples. If she did it naturally, without IUI or drugs to stimulate her ovaries and release more than one egg, then I can see it being a surprise.

The risk of high order multiples is small, so becoming pregnant with 6 would be a surprise.

Heck, I know what causes babies, but we still refer to DD10 as a surprise! :rotfl:

When you're on fertility drugs, they always warn you about the chance of multiples, so why would you be surprised when the warning is there!?

I stumbled upon this show for the first time the other night, and agree these two seem to have it together a bit more than Jon & Kate did (at least they seem to like each other!).

To me, they also come across as careful and calculated about how they present themselves. Not that this is a bad thing, per se. I know if someone put me on tv, I'd be the same way!

Anyway, I had to laugh that they chose to take that huge stroller on a 5k TRAIL run. Wasn't there a paved 5K available anywhere to sign up for?? That seemed over the top!

Ha, I agree. Totally not a surprise.

I agree. I watched some of the 1st season and there was a lot of focus on money issues - diaper drives, not being able to get state health insurance. I know there was a lot of criticism of them over this, since they live in a huge house with designer clothes and such. I think they found out about the criticism, hence all of the charity work this season.

I didn't catch that she had a crystal ball and knew she would get 6.:confused3

Just because their is a possibility that something will happen, doesn't mean it wouldn't be a surprise to someone.

"Quints We Knew We Would Have" just doesn't sound as catchy for a show title.

My point was that when you're on fertility drugs and have medical intervention when it comes to getting pregnant, the Dr.s tell you that you run the risk of having multiples. So, if you're warned in advance, how can you be surprised when it does happen!?!? :confused3

There are many circumstances in life where there is a possibility that something will occur, even be highly likely. It is still possible to be surprised when that possibility becomes reality.

We will just have to agree to disagree.

Just like someone said, she knew how babies are made yet her daughter was still a "surprise" lol. Same thing.

It's the title of the show, not that big of a deal :confused3.

We aren't saying she is a bad person because she used the drugs and had multiples. I just don't think it's a "surprise" either. I have never seen the show, I just think it's a funny title.

Yes, people know that with drug assisted pregnancies there's a chance of multiples. But I've know PLENTY of women who took fertility drugs, had IUI, and ended up with one baby. Twins, even triplets are common, but high order multiples would still be a surprise...even with fertility drugs.

Their dr should have been monitoring them by ultrasound to keep track of how many follicles she had. And if she had too many not done the IUI. I haven't actually seen the show, are any of them identical?
