DH and I would very much like to book a room at the CR this January for the WDW Marathon Weekend and I am wondering which room category would contain the more quiet room.

(We will be getting up at 3:30 in the morning and will want to take an afternoon nap on race day.)

While I have a concern about possible construction noise on the Bay Lake side; I have also read that there can be noise from the Speedway on the MK side.

Any advice??
TIA

Kathy

If you want a quiet room then my best suggestion is to make a reservation in the South Garden Wing, if you have not already. By not staying in the Tower you won't hear any noise from Chef Mickey's and everything else that goes on.

As for the construction noise it would be no where near the South Garden Wing, in fact it does not not effect any guests staying any where in the Contemporary. Where the North Garden Wing use to be, the construction is covered by a huge fence and does not effect anyone. I saw it myself in person so I can back up what I am saying.

I just checked out the Garden Wing...there is Standard view and Garden view.

Is the Garden view a water view?? (The rate is higher) :confused3

Even though my family and I have not stayed in a Garden Wing room at the Contemporary, I believe what you said is correct.

I think the Standard view is the second floor - no balcony.

while the garden view has balconies. could be wrong.

Standard view is (are?) the few rooms on the west side of the South Garden wing that face the back of the convention center. Everything else in the wing is Garden View (lake, lawn, pool).
