Hi everyone -- CRAZY question: my hubby has a conference call with a judge for work on a day we will be in EPCOT. It should last 30 minutes. He thought about going back to the hotel room (Shades of Green), but I told him it'll probably take 40 minutes to an hour each way to and from. So, he thought maybe he could take his file, rent a locker, then when it was time, get the file and go to a quiet place at EPCOT to take the call. I've never really thought about finding a really quiet place at EPCOT -- I'm thinking maybe the garden in England? Any thoughts? HELP. TIA!

Oh, what's it called? Ellen's Energy Adventure. :rotfl:

Just kidding. Inside Innoventions (where Kim Possible sign up is located) there is an area of chairs and sofas.

I recall a few similar threads that may be of help:

There are lots of quiet nooks & crannies in either side of Innoventions. If you're going to be in the World Showcase, I would recommend the garden maze behind the England pavilion or the outside seating area above the koi pond in Japan.

In France, there's indoor seating adjacent to the gift shop that should be quiet. There are benches inside China where you wait to be let into the movie-this could work too.

Really, there are lots of places and if he scopes one out well beforehand, he should be all set.

There are several. The walkway that leads to the former Odyssey restaurant will take you to.....wait for it.....the former Odyssey restaurant. Anywhere on the deck outside the restaurant would work. In World Showcase, if the band is not playing (obviously), the gardens around the gazebo in the UK would work. In Future World (and I'm going to need a little help on this one...Robo?...), in one of the buildings that surround the fountains, there is a hallway that isn't used for much of anything. It has a pictoral time line of Epcot pasted on one of the walls, but otherwise, there is nothing there. There are also restrooms in that building. This area is super quiet. Can anyone out there describe this a bit better to help the OP? This would be my absolute first choice. I think it is "Innoventions West" but I am not certain.

Oh yes. And of course, how could I forget...the former Wonders of Life pavillion. If the Food and Wine event is not going on, you can walk up to that building and be all alone. Not sure if the doors would be open, but the walkway itself would be very quiet.

When you come out of Club Cool (or whatever they are calling the Coke place this year) turn to the right and it will take you into the quiet area that is being described above. It's behind the Edy's ice cream shop. It's really comfortable cool (we often eat ice cream back there) or cut through there for a little relief.

Outside there is a walkway to restrooms behind Imagination building that is quiet too.

Epcot is really a great spot for needing to find a quiet place.

Last time I was there, May, it of course was closed but you couldn't get near it. the walk way leading up to the building was walked off with some planters.

Just had a thought, if you are near the IG leave the park. There are tons of out of the way spots around the resort area.

Yep. That's it.:thumbsup2 The kids drank too much Beverly and we needed a nearby restroom, and we ended up looking at the timeline display for about 15minutes.

I was also going to recommend the garden maze behind the England pavilion :). We took a break here and it was REALLY quiet.

I told DH that I posted this and within MINUTES the DISsers came through. THanks! :) (I especially like the PP's suggestion of Ellen's Energy Snoozefest... er... yeah..) :)

I generally second all of the choices, but note that YMMV may vary with the hallway by Club Cool. I have often seen bands that are playing assemble in this area, as well as other groups of schoolchildren.

Ethically, to avoid being overheard, probably the best place would be where they sell those Norwegian sweaters.:rotfl: Odyssey or former Wonders of Life are probably the best, though, to avoid being overheard since the maps are pretty good at indicating "nothing to see here" except during festivals.

BTW, as a judge that loves Disney, you never know - the judge might have a favorite ride and just tell him to call from there.:yay: I'm partial to Soarin' and probably wouldn't mind a call from there.

But seriously, you might also call ahead to Guest Relations or check with Guest Relations by Spaceship Earth - one never knows what might be available behind the scenes for a limited use like this. Tell them to let you use the upstairs at Imagination.

I've had to be on a few conference calls at WDW -- always seems to be at Epcot, too, and the above advice is great -- particularly the Wonders of Life area and the Odyssey area. Actually, some of the paths near the Odyssey that pass over the water have a few spots with benches and umbrellas. I especially like these, because there is not a lot of foot traffic here and the umbrellas give a little shade.

I think I know that hallway with the bathrooms you're talking about, I think it used to be where the character greetings were. It's also a good spot, although the bathroom traffic can lead to some background noise especially if people are bringing kids (but it is often empty there).

I'd do this.

I think one of the issues is does he have to pretend he is not at Disney?

The judge may not like the fact that he is discussing things in a public area.

If that's the case it changes everything and you really will have to find and out of the way spot.

Thanks! Since it's just a scheduling conference and the other side will also be on the line, don't think there will be anything confidential said. :) He just didn't want to delay the hearing because of this.

I've made work calls in the hall where the bathrooms are in the building that houses the character connection (Mickey and Friends meet and greet). It was extremely quiet- quieter than my office. Occasionally, you will have someone walking to the bathroom, but that is it. I don't think I would take a conference call with a judge, in the garden maze area in the UK. When we are back there there are usually a bunch of screaming kids running through the maze- one of them mine. Also, doesn't Alice do her meet and greet out there now? Not to mention that the English Channel band does their shows back there, so if you happened to hit during a performance it would be LOUD.

The idea of leaving out the IG and finding a quiet spot just outside the gates or over at the Beach club doesn't sound bad either.

No -- he's going to 'fess up that he's at Disney. It's really just scheduling things. The actual hearing is set for a week after our trip. Nothing real confidential or anything going on in this call. Other side will be on the line. He just didn't want a bunch of background noise.

I think this secret is out. The last time we were at Epcot, there was a BTG napping here...on the floor, LOL.

Behind the Nemo ride on the way to Coral Reef, there are some benches and usually very quiet! I have had a to take a work call there a time or two!;)
