Quickie Magic Band/Ticket question...

I have our resort reservation and I'll be adding our dining plan soon (already have a couple ADRs). So now do I need to buy our park tickets FIRST then get the magic bands and link them or does the order not really matter? (If someone could point me to the Magic Band master thread it would help because my simple "magic band" search was a predictable flood of links.)

Thanks!

I am not sure if I understand your question....but I feel compelled to make an attempt to be helpful. If you are staying onsite (sounds like you are) your magic bands will be sent to you a few weeks out from your arrival. In the meantime everything can be linked/tracked using MDE "My Disney Experience" online or the MDE app. Did you use MDE to make your ADRs? They and your resort reservation should show up. If you buy tickets through Disney, they will show up. If you buy tickets from a third-party vendor, you should receive instructions for entering them into your MDE. If you go to the magicband section of your MDE, it should tell you by what date you need to pick colors and names to customize the magicbands for your group.

I honestly don't know if there is a MagicBand FAQ thread.

maybe I am missing some info or things have changed but unless you are DVC you need to have a package (through disney!! )booked with tickets to get the dining plan
Order of magic band doenst matter.

I haven't done it, but I thought there was a policy change and that "ticketless packages" are now available for resort plus dining plan Not that this would necessarily make sense for OP....I was more focused on the different ways everything links together and "shows up" on MDE/MagicBand and didn't want to say that all tickets automatically appear. (OP, be sure to check for available package discounts for your dates....sounds like it is coming soon if you already have ADRs)

That would make sense that disney would change policy -- must be profitable for them!!!
:)

Thanks for the replies...a few more details.

The resort dates are 5/12-5/17 at AK - Kidani via my parents' DVC membership. So the accommodations are set. As I said I made a few ADRs and as I go down the list of to-do's I've reached the Magic Band and ticket stage (on my list anyway and its another month before I can start setting FPs). I'll likely make the dining plan arrangements soon as I think we've decided on that.

From my parents I know the Magic Bands get delivered to us before the trip but I was confused about something I saw on either MDE or the DVC site which listed a pick-up date for the Magic Bands at the resort. I definitely want them ahead of time and I was considering searching around for some fancier ones for the kids (first trip and all). So I understand if I buy them myself that I'll have to link them but I just wasn't clear if there was a particular order to getting the bands and tickets.

Still looking for that "Everything Magic Band" pinned thread I mentioned.... Hope the additional info doesn't add to the confusion.

You will still receive MagicBands as part of your DVC reservation. These are complimentary, and you should be able to "customize" them now on your MDE account. Assuming you live in the US, they'll ship to you about 3-4 weeks prior to you arrival date. You are welcome to purchase special MBs as well, in which case you will need to link those to your MDE account. You will still get the freebies unless you decline them.

If you purchase tickets direct from WDW through your MDE account, the tickets will automatically be linked to your account. If you purchase tickets from a third-party vendor, you will need to link them. Tickets must be on your account in order to schedule FP+, which you can do 60 days prior to arrival.

Nothing is "on" a MagicBand. It is simply a "key" to access your MDE account which has all the related pieces of information.

Enjoy your vacation!
