Quick waterpark question....

Well, I despise waterparks....despise them. However, my children have convinced me that we should do 1 day at Blizzard Beach this summer.

So, my question is...are you allowed to wear water shoes on the slides? The thought of being barefoot around the parks is driving me insane, LOL.

No, you have to take them off and hold them in your hands.

Sorry you don't like water parks. Hope you still get to enjoy it. Personally, we put our flip flops on the beach chair and don't touch them again until we leave the parks, but there are plenty who wear water shoes, so you won't be alone.

I too really dislike most waterparks. But, I make an exception for Disney waterparks. Our local one disgusts me, it is not very clean and is just countless hot hours in very long lines with very rude people. It is not like that at Disney waterparks,they are generally well planned and clean. The lazy rivers are great. I actually really enjoy TL, it is very relaxing to me. Maybe you will change your tune when you go this time good luck!

Yes, you can wear water shoes. The only exception may be on some of the extreme slides. My wife wears hers all the time and she never had to remove them once.

Well, that's encouraging. I will definitely not be doing any of the bigger slides. No joke, I have injured myself in some fashion EVERY time I've been on a water slide. They literally hate me.

You can wear water shoes. I think the only slides you have to remove them are the really steep fast slides where they could come flying off your feet.

I don't quite know why you have such a strong negative opinion of water parks, but if it's just that you don't like slides or are afraid of them, just don't go on them. You can absolutely have a fabulous day floating in the wave pool at BB, or relaxing on the lazy river. You can wear you water shoes on those things. Are you afraid of water?

I'm pretty sure I wear my Source sandals at the water parks because the ground can get hot, but I have to look at pictures to see if I'm remembering correctly.

This. I stand corrected, so I guess you can wear them on smaller slides. Like I said, we go barefoot 100% of the time, but I thought I have seen CMs asking people to remove them on all slides.

Not at all being harsh, but if you can, change your mindset about the waterparks. If you go in there kicking and screaming and say you hate them, you'll probably hate it. Go in with an open mind, you may surprise yourself. WDW water parks are not like your local water park. Yes, they have slides and similar concepts to local ones, but they're so much better. We love them, they're a highlight of our trips.

I believe you can wear water shoes on anything that is a tube slide, but not on body slides. This only applies if the water shoes have a rubber sole or anything that will cause friction. I think that "water socks" if they do not have rubber on them, would be allowed. You can easily just hold them in your hands as you go down though.

Also, make sure you do not wear swimwear with exposed metal buckles or anything. Those are not allowed on slides.

Not afraid of water at all. As I said above I have gotten injured on water slides every time I have ridden them, starting at age 7...so that probably accounts for my negative attitude about them, LOL. Plus, I get skeeved out at the idea of walking around with no shoes on. That's a me thing, I know.

That being said, I have promised my kids that I will do my best, LOL, and they know about my aversion to water parks (it has become a family joke) so I'm sure they'll go easy on me.

I can't stand any other water parks but I LOVE Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Water shoes or flip flops are a good idea when walking around because the ground can be HOT - like fry the bottom of your feet hot. I usually hop from sprinkler to sprinkler on our way to the rides though because I don't want shoes on for those (and I don't think you can wear them anyway). Seriously, the WDW water parks are not your typical water park. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm another who shudders at the thought of our local place, but one hot afternoon, I think I had too many drinks by the pool, my ex talked me into decamping and it was a blast. I hope you enjoy it too!

Hate water parks.
They gross me out.
BUT I will do the Disney Water Parks.
They are exceptionally clean and well maintained.

Hate the thought of my feet walking with all the other feet.
Ground is often hot or rough.
I wear water shoes.
I NEVER take them off.

I do not do BB Summit Plummet or Slush Gusher.
I do all other slides/rides.
I do not have to remove my shoes.
I even carry a waterproof camera.

I do not do TL Humunga Kowabunga.

I suggest looking over a map in advance.
Look at food options, bathrooms etc.
Decide where you would like to "camp".
Arrive at opening and head to a spot.
