The things we liked: the setting, the grounds, the lobby, the staff, the dedication to the theme, the pool (we only got to the main one), and the boat transportation.

Dislikes: smallest DVC bathroom we've ever experienced (no room for a trash can), Roaring Forks (small, we can deal with, but the staff seemed overwhelmed and willing to share their grievances), furniture was a bit worse for wear, and the TV cabinet for the new flat screen TV's does not have a slide out base so TV watching from the studio sofa is impossible. I was trying to make a good impression on my guest (my big sis) but in the end, VWL didn't deliver.

Oh, and on our last night on our way back to our room we witnessed a group of 6-8 adults smoking and drinking in the villa hot tub. They laughed and waved (it was about 11:00 after a 10:00 MK closing). Gross...have a good time fellow DVC'ers, but please, no smoking in the pool or hot tub. Please?

I agree keep the smoking to the designated areas!

Oh gosh - thanks for the heads up on the small bathroom. We've only stayed in a one bedroom (or 2 bedroom dedicated) and the master bath is huge, I've only recently been thinking about studios for short split stays, but thanks for the heads up.

Did you try the specialty tossed salad at Roaring Forks? I swear it was heaven on earth, lol...it took a bit to make, but it was soooo worth the wait!!

I agree! I would make a trip to Roaring Forks just for the salads. I go there and to the BC Marketplace!

The salads are very good, indeed!

We just got back from BWV, 1st stay there and loved it! It is our 2nd fav resort(VWL will always be 1st:lovestruc). We were noticing the size of the shower in the 1 bed to be smaller than VWLs 1 bed shower. And also the master bedroom is smaller than VWLs. Not that it bothers us enough to not go back, just observations we made. Each resort is unique in its own way. I never thought I would like the dark decor of VWL, but actually love it.

I've not stayed in a studio at VWL, but have stayed in both a 1BR and 2BR there a few times. I can see where the studio bath might be small, but I've always felt the 1BR/2BR bathrooms were fine. I do agree that the furniture and carpeting is a little frazzled, and I'm hoping that Disney will do a refurb in the not-too-distant future. As for RF, I rarely use it for more than the occasional sandwich, and it's been fine in that regard--I generally tend to hit AP two or three times, instead! lol Finally, seeing a smoking party in the hot tub would definitely make me wince. Hope you have a better experience next time.
