Was recently visiting Orlando on business, and had a little time to kill before my flight home, and rather than spend the time sitting in the airport, I decided to stop by the World and check out a few of the resorts.
Since I didn't have a ton of time, I decided to check out two resorts -- Beach Club (since I've never spent any time there) and POR (since DW and I will be staying there in October for the first time). Stopped at Beach Club first, and it was simply gorgeous. Everything was clean, it was incredibly quiet and relaxing. The butterfly garden was fantastic. Needless to say, I was very impressed.
I then moved on to POR. My initial impression was "this is no Beach Club." Now don't get me wrong, I thought the grounds were very pretty. The theming was definitely very nice, and I found it very peaceful. I simply didn't think that it was as clean as the Beach Club (I realize it's probably not a fair comparison, since BC is a Deluxe and POR is a mod). Obviously, I didn't get to look at any rooms, so I'm only comparing the main buildings and grounds.
I am still definitely looking forward to staying at POR, and I will definitely say that my 1/2 hour spent checking out these resorts has REALLY got me wishing our trip would get here!
