If like me you mess up your dates, drag your whole family to Universal, pay parking, trek to the gate only to be told you're an idiot (paraphrasing) and your ticket has expired.

Try going to the guest services desk rather than a ticket booth, offer to pay for an extra day, be nice and polite etc and you might get an extra day added for free like we did!

Phew, I was very nearly in a lot of trouble from wife, daughters and mother in law for dragging them there.

From then on we got lucky over and over again, Daisy got an ace picture with Dora who we'd been waiting for on numerous occasions for hours on end and she'd never appeared where she was supposed to before. The weather got better and we managed a whole day at the two universal parks and a full evening concluded with fireworks at Magic Kingdom prior to going home on Saturday. That was only the second set of fireworks we'd seen due to cruddy storms most of the holiday.

My final tip, use the mornings, use the mornings, use the mornings, don't get tempted by the appeal of a lye in. Afternoons are for resting!!! We wasted too much of the sun/dry weather in this way and it's the only thing I regret.
