We had the opportunity to visit Disney's California Adventure this past weekend.
The park was a nice change from Disneyland and much fewer crowds. The attention to detail and subtle humour is pure Disney. The catchy California music puts you in a great mood immediately.
Soarin Over California is one of the 4 best attractions in the world IMHO. (Indy Jones, TOT, and Spiderman at IOA being the others). The incredibly realistic smells and feeling of flying was fantastic. Get a fastpass for this one.
California Screamin was great fun, very smooth and great launch.
Grizzly Rapids is a great raft ride, more thrilling than Kali at AK. Got soaked.
Animation Studios was lots of fun, especially Sorcer's Workshop (kids will love this).
The moving buckets of Sun Wheel are deceptively freaky. Don't like heights and almost wet my pants.
Tough to Be A Bug, fun and very similar to AK.
Muppetvision 3-D, fun and the same as MGM.
Superstar Limo, lame and not worth more than 5 min wait
Eureka parade, very creative and lots of fun.
Great hot tortillas and delicious sour dough bread at Pacific Wharf.
Hyperion Theatre is absolutely beautiful and the show was original and excellent.
Very nice compliment to Disneyland. More suited for adults. No I don't think it's just another amusement park with unimaginative rides. Paradise Pier is a nostalgic look at the old seaside amusement parks that dotted the California coast. The rides all have an imaginative new twist and has unmistakably Disney magic. Looking forward to more attractions. This park is not Disneyland and does not try to be and I for one am grateful. There can only be one Disneyland.
