Quick Service Only?

I think it is best to pay out of pocket for meals. You rarely come out ahead with the prepaid dining plans. Go to allears.net and price what you think you would eat and in most cases, you will be better paying for it oop. Also, ask yourself if you would order a dessert at both lunch and dinner. Have a snack everyday? If you miss a meal, you will most likely be losing money. The portions seem to be pretty big and you might not feel like eating a full lunch and dinner and/or maybe just splitting the second meal. Also, you might not feel like eating all meals on site. I find it not be a good value and too restrictive.

We have done DDP and QSDP so many times now I can't count. Last 3 years we have done the QSDP. I love it! Of course we go when it's free so that makes it great! Not having to make one single ADP has been great! And my DM really likes not having to be at a restaurant at a certain time.

I haven't eaten one burger on the QSDP the last 3 years running. And DD13 only had a few burgers/nuggets. And that was by choice.

One thing that makes it easier for us using any DDP is having our own (rental) vehicle. We eat at DTD a lot, or other resorts.

Fav. CS are both WPE, Earl's (though not a good use of aCS put a good value OOP), Cookes of Dublin, Contempo Cafe, and POFQ food court.

This year we didn't pay OOP for any food. We ate well and we did share some meals since we don't eat desserts everyday and many of the CS meals are shareable.

we love qsdp.

paid oop,had ddp and qsdp, so tried always.

don't like being dictated by adrs and waiting to be seated, served etc.

feel we miss out on park time and happy with cs options.:goodvibes

Does anyone do quick service only on their Disney trips?

We are going in February and I originally thought I wanted to do the regular dining plan. But the more I think about it, I think it might be better to just stick with quick service and food we bring from home... Our kids will be 5 years old and 2 years old.

I'm thinking it will be easier to not be tied down to any ADRs, especially since half of the ones I wanted to do require a credit card hold.

Convince me that it IS for the best to stick with quick service!

Should we purchase the QSDP or just pay out of pocket?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! :goodvibes

It seems like a guest has to really plan to save money (or break even) using the QSDP so I think it's better to pay out of pocket since the cost will be dollar for dollar or close to it. Personally, I get tired of standing in line for food and carrying a tray around after a day or two. Plus I would like the flexibility of being able to have a TS meal here or there without compromising the value of the dining plan.

I would say if you plan on doing only QS meals you could definitely come out ahead paying oop. Especially if everybody doesn't normally get dessert with every meal.

If you can get free dining then I would of course go with that but if you have to PAY for the QSDP then OOP would be cheaper.

Just one more experience to add....I would never pay for a dining plan. But if it free, it works out well. We are a party if two, usually staying values. Figure the best we could ever do on a RO discount is around $30 a night. Even being thrifty, I couldn't feed the two of us for $30 a day. On the flip side, I CAN feed us for a lot less than the cost of a dining plan ($70+ per day for QSDP)...granted, we would eat less, but even if we order anything we want, OOP is cheaper than a dining plan for us.

For our upcoming trip with FD, we do want a few TS meals. I priced out what we would normally order at each then looked at the cost of upgrading to regular DDP. I am coming out ahead paying OOP for the TS vs. upgrading. Our TS plans are Le Celliar lunch, CRT breakfast, and Mama Melrose over an 8 night stay.
