Just got back from a crazy long weekend at WDW.

We took my son for a quick trip to celebrate his 12th birthday. Because we were trying to save some money, we opted for our first value resort...POP Century. We previously had DVC (sold it) so were a bit spoiled by Bay Lake Towers. We also typically choose to stay at POR since we've ditched the DVC and I have to say we did miss it terribly.

Free dining at POP meant only quick service. We did go ahead and do a couple of table service anyway, and kicked ourselves for not just staying at POR and getting the basic dining plan to cover those. Oh well, live and learn!

Friday night we went to Downtown Disney and WPE. My son had pepperoni pizza and my husband and I had absolutely delicious salmon. It came with charred tomatoes, broccolini and a cauliflower puree. An amazing deal for CS! The boys had cheesecake and I had creme brûlée. Honestly, this was worthy of a table service credit. So, so, so GOOD!

Saturday morning we decided to skip the crazy food court at POP and go over to Epcot and Les Halles in France for breakfast. This was a smart choice. It was empty there (since the rest of the countries don't open until 11) and totally relaxed. My son had a warm ham and cheese on a baguette, some juice and a chocolate croissant. The husband had a quiche, coffee and a pastry that I can't remember, and I had a pissalarde and frangipane. It was almost like a sicilian slice of pizza. Tomato, cheese, onion on a foccacia. The frangipane is like an almond danish. It was all delicious, too much food, and very chill.

Unfortunately it poured ALL day at Epcot. There were also TONS of drunk people. More than I have ever remembered. We decided to keep it PG and eat something from each country...and maybe just one drink. We needed to set a good example for the impressionable birthday boy!

In Mexico we used 2 QS credits and got a guacamole & chips/Churros and a cheese empenada/churros. First of all...that caramel for the churros was DISGUSTING. Watery and gross. To the point I thought something was wrong with it. Churros were ok, nothing special. Guac was good, empanadas and slaw were just meh. It was our first and last time at the QS in Mexico.

In Norway we split a school bread. Heaven. So yummy. In Germany we had a dark chocolate covered caramel. Again...yum. China we just picked up a jasmine tea. Italy consisted of some chocolate from the store. Same with Japan...Thomas the Train Pocky! Husband had a beer in America, I had a Grand Marnier Slush in France and then we lost steam and gave up on the eats. Oh well!

The boys wanted to ride Everest, so we hit AK. Later that night we went to the AKL and visited the Mara. I had a chicken pita sandwich that sounded more interesting than it was. It had hummus and mint yogurt sauce and cucumber. The chicken was funky. Kiddo had a bacon burger, husband had a veggie flatbread. I got a lime cheesecake that was not so good. No crust, and it was very whipped, like a mousse. The boys got cupcakes that they didn't finish.

Sunday was the big birthday and we went to Crystal Palace for breakfast. This is always everyone's favorite. Puffed French Toast, Breakfast Lasagna, Mickey Waffles. Can't go wrong! I tried some carrot bread this time..it was pretty good! And some mini scones that I hadn't seen before. A+

We skipped lunch due to the big breakfast and impending big dinner. I managed to squeeze in a Dole Whip though!

Birthday dinner was at Ohana. We love it here, but this time around was I was disappointed. I really disliked the chicken. I don't remember it being dark meat before...it was just too charred on the outside and tasted kind of gamey. The steak was better, but very rare. I got mine a bit more done after the first bite..just too pink for me. Shrimp was great as usual, as were the sides. I love the potstickers and the salad is delish. The bread pudding was dry...a little bummed about that. I had a No-jito to drink. Mojito without the alcohol and it was really good! We had a long night in the park ahead of us and I didn't want to get too tired from alcohol (which I tend to do!)

Our last day was crazy...we were doing the Marceline to Magic tour (AMAZING...fantastic price and backstage access to Haunted Mansion) so we grabbed a banana and cinnamon roll at the Contemporary to eat on the monorail. Had to be there by 8 so we were rushing. After the 3 hour tour we went to DHS and had their mostly lousy CS food. I had Starring Rolls...turkey sandwich which was totally fine. And a red velvet cupcake. Kiddo had chicken nuggets and husband had black bean burger. Nothing exciting. Oh, and a Cinderella cupcake that was actually pretty yummy!

We had to get to the airport and had 2 QS credits left so we ran into POP food court and got some pizza, a veggie sandwich and more chocolate croissants to eat on the plane.

All in all, pretty decent eats but I don't think I would ever do the value meal plan again. Id rather go to 50s Primetime in DHS than suffer through the CS there. Wolfgang Puck is still the tops....and school bread still makes me swoon.

Now I have post-Disney depression. And a stomachache!

Thanks for the review! We did the regular dining plan last time and this time we will have QS dining. I know for a fact we'll be going to WPE - I love it there.

thanks for the reviews...we did Ohana in May and going back for a repeat performance (we hope)...the potstickers and the wings were delicious ..as was the steak and shrimp and noodles...thanks again
