Quick resort/payment question

We paid for and ordered our hotel/passes/dining plan etc online from the Disney online. When we check in, will we be required to use our credit card to put on the hotel? How much do they swipe the card for to hold, if they do?

I'm hoping we'll be able to leave it at home, so I don't go way overboard, and stick to our budget, but I'd hate to get there and have them not allow us to check in.

I am not certain but from what I have read the credit card will not be necessary.
I am in the same boat as you. I refuse to use credit when I have cash on hand. From what I have read here it is completely possible to use cash or travelers checks to put money on your account to use. And this is exactly what i plan on doing.

WDW resorts require NO PLASTIC WHATSOEVER.

You do not need to present a credit card when you check-in. You do not need to leave a cash deposit. They do not need a credit card or cash on-file for "incidentals" or "security" or anything like that ... this makes WDW pretty unusual as far as hoteliers go.

At check-in, they will ASK if you want to set up a room charge account. This is totally voluntary. If you choose to do so, you can set up a room charge account with a credit card, debit card, cash, travelers checks, or even Disney Dollars. If you do want a room charge and you do use plastic, they will swipe your card and run a charge of zero dollars and zero cents, just to make sure it's a valid card on a real account. NO HOLD will be placed on your account. No charge will be made to the card until you reach the limit of the room charge or until the middle of the night (early morning) of your check-out day, whichever comes first.
