Ok, I need your help. DH & I are staying in a studio at AKL Kidani at the end of the month using DVC Points. DH's best friend lives about 2 hours away and is coming up to spend the day with us our first day of vacation. He will probably be too tired to drive home, so we told him he could sleep on the pullout couch. I need to get him a parking pass for the night. Would this be an issue? Would I need to add his name to the reservation to get this? Even though we won't be going over the occupancy limit I wasn't sure if having an overnight guest is allowed. I just want to make sure I go about this in the proper way. TIA!!!!

Kidani can issue him a day visitors pass with a parking slip (we did this just last week), but for him to spend the night and have access to the pool and have a key to come and go from the room, he should be added to your reservation.

I brought an additional 10 year with us at the last minute and the computers wouldn't allow them to add to the reservation. The CM told me that their computers were "tempormental" and in future I should call MS and have them added, even if just the morning of. I've never had this issue at OKW so I don't know how much of this is truth or fiction.

Studio sleeps 4, why don't you just add your friend's name on to your reservation? It is not going to cost you anything anyway. :goodvibes

One extra thing to clarify, we are on the Dining Plan and I'm worried that if I add him to the reservation it will affect something there.

Oh that makes a big different, I think everyone in the reservation has to have the same dining plan.
Unless your friend want to do the dining plan for 1 day, then maybe you should split your reservation. :surfweb:

Yeah maybe I'll just do it that way. Thanks for the advice!

Just add him when he arrives. then you won't have to go through the whole segmenting process.

Unless the new computer system has changed things, in the past when I've added a guest right then and there it meant the current reservation was cancelled, and my points were messed up for about a week afterwards. I would segment the reservation beforehand since the dining plan is involved.

We had this very same issue on Aug 2 upon check in, we brought with us someone extra at the very last minute and the computers would not take it. CM gave her a day pass but had we needed tickets it would have been an issue!

I think I'm gonna call this week and just add him and separate the reservation how I need to and mess with the meal plan at the same time. Such a simple thing is really messing me up, but I want to make sure everything is ok when we get there. Thanks for your input! It is very appreciated :goodvibes

I do somewhat think segmented dining was intended for situations like this (partial stay guest) more than every other day DDP. And I do think all overnight guests should be on the reservation.

With segments, remember that each segment's allotment of credits expire with each segment.

Have a great time at Kidani! I think it's a great place!
