I am a little brain dead at the moment. I could look it up in my DVC stuff, I am hoping I can post the question and have an answer by the time I get back from Dairy Queen, without having to pull my DVC info out.

OK, I have a June use year. Does that mean I just received my 2005 points on Jun 1st? I won't get my 2006 points until Jun1, 2006...and to borrow into 2007, I need to make 2006 reservations for travel after Jun 1 2006?

I think that is right, I just need clarification. TIA! :sunny:

Use year has nothing to do with when you can make reservations. It all goes by the date of stay. The points are already in your account, they aren't "deposited" on the first day of your use year. For a stay between 6/1/06 and 5/31/07, you can borrow 2007 points as soon as you can make reservations. So you could call next month for a 6/06 stay at your home resort and borrow 2007 points.

I have a June UY also and I believe we just received our 2006 points on June 1st.

Did we receive our 2006 points, or 2005 points? :confused3

On June 1, you received your June, 2005 Use Year points. They need to be used by May 31, 2006 unless they are banked.

If you need more points than what's available in the 2005 Use Year, you could borrow points from your June, 2006 Use Year. These points would then be part of your 2005 Use Year total and those points could not be banked again if the reservation they were used for is later cancelled. Banked/Borrowed points may not be returned to their original Use Year and will expire at the end of the current Use Year.

You really don't "receive" points on a certain date. They are already in your account for the remainder of your contract. Which use year points you can use is governed by the date of stay. You could have borrowed 2005 points a long time ago (in July 2003 for a June 2004 stay).

Thanks for the clarification, Doc.

So it really is important to make sure you have a UY that matches the time of year you like to go.

It would stink to have a December UY, if you like to travel to WDW in November.

Ok, cool! so, I can make reservations for June 2006, on borrowed 2007 points.

But, I cannot make May 2006 reservations on borrowed points, because my 2006 points are gone, and May 2006 is still in my 2005 UY?

To make it clear, this is why I am asking.

Last year, we rented our entire allotment of 2005 points, so we had cash to take a 4-day Wonder Cruise. In October, I borrowed a good chunk of our 2006 points for the Member Cruise. I think I have 13 2006 points left.

If we take a WDW vacation next year on borrowed 2007 points, the reservation has to be made for dates AFTER June1st? I guess that is what I am really trying to clarify.

It depends on how many points you have used and how many you have borrowed. I'm not exactly sure you understand it just yet.

For example:
let's assume you have 200 points annually.
You call in July of 2004 for a reservation in June of 2005. You use all of your 200 points for that ressie and need 25 more, so they are borrowed from your June 2006 use year and those 25 points become 2005 points.

In June of 2006, you would then only have 175 points added to your account, since you have already borrowed 25 from that year for your 2005 vacation. Assuming you plan to travel in June again, you would be able to make a ressie in July of 2005 for a ressie in June of 2006 using 175 2006 points and borrowing any additional points needed from your 2007 use year.

Only if you end up cancelling the trip and are unable to reschedule before November 30. If you don't cancel (or cancel soon enough and can reschedule before 11/30), it doesn't matter at all.

Best wishe s-

Ok, ready? LOL

I have 0 2005 points and only 13 2006 points left. So any vacation I want to take between now and May 31, 2006 is out, because I have no points to use or borrow.

Now, lets say I want to takes the kids on a WDW vacation after they get out of school for the summer. In this case, pending NO snow days, it would be June 14th 2006. I want to make a reservation for Jun 18-25 2006 in a 2 bedroom OKW villa. The points will be 296 for the week. They will automatically use the remaining 2006 points I have available (13), then "borrow" the remaining 283 points from my 2007 UY?

By George, I think I GOT it! LOL

OH! BTW! I hope my denseness is not scaring off any potential DVC owners who may be lurking. I am sure I am messing up a very simple procedure. :teeth:
