Quick question about sandals!

So we usually visit in February, however with school things and snow make up days, I have had to move my trip to JUNE! So shoes were never an issue but I am perplexed. Anyone have any good recommendations for sandals? I am a mid-fifties grandma but young for my age. I will walk a lot but I would like something fairly supportive and comfortable that won't fall off my foot. TIA!

I bought a sandal by Teva called Tirra. I need support for my feet so flip flops and most sandals don't do well for me.

I love these shoes. All the straps are adjustable too so when my feet swell up, I just loosen the straps and feel comfy again.

I wore it all weekend over Mother's Day weekend and had no problems at all.

I also did use body glide on my feet as well and since I took no breaks (naughty me) I carried bandaide blister block and would put that on about 2pm just to be safe.

Have a great trip.

I would suggest a good walking shoe like a tennis shoe with socks. I have never owned a pair of sandals that I would try to walk 10 miles in. You are looking at blisters in several different places on your feet IMO.

I've had surgery on both of my feet. I wear Keen sandals on vacation and I wear Keen shoes at work. I love them.

I can't stand for my feet to be hot and sweaty inside of tennis shoes. Yuck! I always wear sandals...even when we go in "colder" months.

I typically wear Yellow Box Flip flops, but I have also had very good luck with Keens in the Venice H2 style.

I recently got a pair of Dansko sandals and I am now IN LOVE with them! I would consider wearing them to the parks, for sure. (You have to like the clog-style support of Dansko shoes though...not everyone likes that.)

My mom (mid-50's as well) swears by Fit-Flops, but I can't walk in them very well.

I agree. I wear Tevas all the time to the parks. I love that you can adjust the straps throughout the day. I have tried to wear sneakers and I was miserable.

I'm same age as you. I prefer a good sports sandal to tennis shoes & socks. My feet sweat & blister in tennis shoes. I've got 3 different styles of Keens that I always take and switch up. They're expensive but I've had mine for probably 5 WDW trips so far, plus wear at home. They wear like iron! One pair I've actually mowed the yard in several times. I hated not to take them to WDW so I tried washing them and they look perfect so they'll be making another WDW appearance!lol Teva's are real good too!

I recommend Keens or Merrells. Both are supportive and comfy! I wear these all summer and have never had blisters.

*Full disclosure: I wear cross trainers with socks in the park though. I need more support than sandals can provide.

I was going to suggest Keens. Be warned though, they make your feet very stinky, at least they do with both of my kids, but you can put them in the washer...I've even heard of poeple washing them in the dishwasher.

PLEASE invest in a pair of BORN sandals. Not the dressy wedge heels, just a flat sole. They are the most comfy shoe in the world and will last you a couple of years atleast

I always wore tennis shoes and socks but after reading this board I purchased a pair of tiva mush flip flops. I love them. I have been walking in them for the past three weeks. All day and even on my evening three mile walk. No problems and feet feel great.

I need a good shoe. I can't wear sneakers as I blister. I always were berkinstocks. The are wonderful. Be sure you break them in before WDW.

I would definitely get some sort of water sandal (Teva/Keens/Crocs...yes they have sandals/etc).

We've traveled in both June and July (and will be there in August this year) and with the daily rainstorms we find having sandals that can have water run through them to be the most versatile when at WDW.

Last June dd and I got caught in a monsoon in World Showcase. The water was running down the walkways up to mid calf in places. We were VERY grateful for our Crocs that day! :thumbsup2

Tevas and Chacos have really great arch support. Just make sure you get sandals with a back strap that will stay on your feet!

I have a couple pair of croc sandals that I have used on many occasions at different parks. They are very comfortable and I usually get blisters when I were tennis shoes all day, plus I hate stinky feet :)

I have wore them at Universal, Branson's Silver Dollar City, and Worlds of Fun without issue.

I got my DD a pair of Keens last year (they still look new even though she wore them a lot, right out of the box, no blisters.) I wished they made an adult version of them because they were open toe, which I prefer. I looked online and they have Youth sizes up to 6 - which is a womans 7-7.5. I didn't know youth 6 isn't the same as woman's. I ordered them and love them, so comfy. However, they are lavender!

I like Keens a good bit but I also discovered Sanuk's this past trip. They were really comfy. But, they do make your feet stink after multiple days. I wore my merrell sandals one day and had bad luck. They will remain at the house now.

I gave up on sandals a few summers ago and now wear my Nike cross trainers and socks exclusively. :worship:No blisters, no soreness...I am very fit and walk ALOT but nothing compares to WDW! I don't have issues with "stinkiness" and can out pace the rest of the family to the FP machines if need be  in them.

I wear these Chacos. Very supportive, Great for the wide foot too.

I think that shoes at Disney are one thing you make extra room for and bring 3-4 assorted pair. I do this even at Cedar Point. I bring my back pack and change from my sneakers to sandals and back again. I cannot stand having my feet be on fire. However, flip flops aren't big on arch support, but I have good luck with them. I had a really good pair of Rockport leather ones I loved. Can't find them anymore. I do like my crocs, but tire of them after a bit. BRING MOLESKIN...it's a lifesaver.
