Based on your experiences, would you do POR for one night at ~$160, Pop preferred at ~$105 or AS Sports for ~$75 with a AAA discount? Have never stayed at any, this is just for arrival night before checking in at YC. TIA! ETA I currently have POR booked, standard view, and DU has a courtesy hold for me on Sports.

We really liked POP. The lobby is clean, fresh and bright, and parking from our room in the 90's was close and accessible. Oh, and lots of towel animals! Not too crazy about ASmu (haven't stayed at sports, so can't comment). The walk from our room in ASmu to the bus stop was exceedingly long, especially at the end of a long day in the parks. I think that the transportation system is also a little easier at POP, which if I remember right is serviced by it's own bus, as opposed to the All Stars, which get lumped together on one bus. As for POR, we can't comment since we haven't stayed there yet, but we hope to address that deficiency on our next trip!

Thanks, I guess I need to give a little more info. If I book this it will be for a late arrival night, moving over to Yacht Club the next day so the location is not that important except we would hope for an area away from the old smoking rooms. We'd have our own vehicle so we'd just like to be close to the parking lot.

If it's just for the arrival night, I would go value. Probably Sports (even though Im not a huge fan), if all your going to be doing is sleeping there, thats the choice I would go for.

Thanks, guys. I was able to secure it with AAA (through Dreams Unlimited, thanks Sue Ellen!) for $74, almost $100 less than POR was at rack rate. As it's just for the beds, no pools or amenities, I'm hoping it'll be okay. Since DH will have worked a 12 hour shift on NYE night, I'll be driving down most likely, and he'll head straight for bed. All of the charm of POR would be lost on us this time. By arriving a day early we can run over to YC and pick up our tickets, then head to DTD and let the kids try Disney Quest.

HEy g8r4evr, are you in Gainesville? I'm hoping that the roads through there will be smooth, no road work on 75 for once!

Congratulations! I have to agree, if you are only staying one night at a certain resort, and aren't going to use pools, or luxury amenities, values are the best choices. :)

I guess it's too late, but I would recommend off-site. Why go for the cheapest (least comfortable) Disney hotel option if you're only looking for good rest? I don't know your standards, but I would recommend Sheraton Safari or the Fairfield Inn just outside the gate to DTD. I can only assume they are much nicer than Disney value hotels. $75 is cheap though, but you could probably pay half that for similar lodging outside the gates.

the fairfield inn that you are talking about is $161 without tax AAA. Safari is 111 with tax AAA.

Staying onsite with that great rate also means you won't have to move your luggage. Just have Disney do it!
