Yes...LOL...about meatballs in the crockpot.

Has anyone made the grape jelly/chili sauce kind? I need ideas for what to throw over my frozen meatballs in my crockpot. I need something quick and easy for Bunco tonight!

Recipes welcome!

Ok, stupid question...what kind of chili sauce? The only kind I have is from the asian market and is used for lumpia, spring rolls, etc. Is that the right kind of chili sauce?

I make it all the time in the crockpot, use one bag of frozen meatballs and one jar of Heinz chill sauce and one jar of grape jelly stir all together and let it cook up , easy and good...

Thanks guys!!

I'm about to dump it all in and put in on low for awhile...we need to run errands before I leave.

Hi! Just wondering... Can you use cranberry sauce instead of the grape jelly?:scared1:

I don't see why not...its not written in stone that it MUST be grape jelly, that's just a tasty option that someone tried and then has been passed around for years. Let me know how it is if you try it!:)

The recipe I use calls for one can of cranberry sauce, one jar of chili sauce and a 1/4 cup of duck sauce. Mmmmmmmm......

i recently made it with the heinz chili sauce and grape jelly and people were scarfing them down. cranberry sounds so good, i'm going to try that next time.

I use ketchup instead of chili sauce, my girlfriend uses chili sauce, they taste pretty much the same. I use equal parts, I empty the jelly jar then squeeze the ketchup into that, she uses 2 jars of chili sauce to 1 jar of jelly.

If you make it with cranberry sauce, it's best with the whole berry kind instead of the smooth (although either will work if you already have it in your pantry)

Just another suggestion....

My family loves swedish meatballs from the crockpot.

Frozen meatballs. Any kind will do.
3 cans of beef gravy.
1 pint sour cream.

Couldn't be easier.

I didn't have the recipe one time and I used apple jelly and BBQ sauce. It was good too.

Oh, that was for little sausages, maybe it wouldn't work for meatballs. ?

The recipe I use calls for one jar of chili sauce, i sm jar of grape or current jelly, and a couple spoonfuls of dijon mustard.

I just cut the Oceanspray recipe out of a magazine which calls for their jellied cranberry sauce and chili sauce. It looks great.

One that I always do is grape jelly and Heinz 57 sauce. Yummy, Yummy and always a big hit!

I do intend to try these other combos! Sound really good!! Glad I found this thread with all the good ideas! Thanks!

This sounds delish, I am going to try it!

For the meatball appetizers, I have also used yellow mustard and grape jelly. I like it best with Heinz chili sauce and grape jelly. It almost seems like the more bizarre the combination, the better. Any of the above sauces will work with cocktail weinies/sausages, too. They are the first to disappear at a party, and people keep "fishing" their toothpicks around in the juice looking for that last bite!
