Quick Eat it while it's hot, Nevermind, we don't have the baby - DXDP update 04/01

i'm in ! I love the pic of the filet with lobster , yummmmmmm !
all the other pics are great also , french toast with ketchup is not so weird , I eat scrambled eggs with ketchup , same thing just adding bread , right ?

You're totally right. The filet was really good, actually anything with lobster is good.

Great reviews so far! Mmmmm the F&W pictures make everything look so yummy!

F&W was wonderful. Can't wait to return again.

Glad you revived this or I never would have found this. Although I have to say, I love French Toast and hate ketchup so the thought of putting it on my yummy, delicious French Toast almost made me a little ill.

Thanks for the F&W photos. We are going during F&W 2012, so I was hoping I'd see some photos from 2011.

Oh yeah...and Lia - ADORABLE!

I guess it's not for everyone. We went during F&W 2009 and it was a lot of the same things at the booths, so it should be similar in 2012.

Dinner tonight was at the Yachtsman. It was our first signature experience ever and when we got to the check in we felt a little underdressed. Probably because we were seated next to a full table of men in business suits.

Once our server came, she made us feel comfortable. She was extremely nice and was great at giving recommendations. She was tied for best service with our server from the Cali Grill.

She brought out the onion sourdough rolls and salted butter and this was amazing. Best bread of any of the restaurants, yes even better than Le Cellier's pretzel bread. Unfortunately I can't find a picture :headache:

For Appetizers I had the escargot

These were yummy and garlicky and there were a lot of them.

DH had the scallops and he loved them. I tried one and thought they were a little undercooked, but that's how DH likes them.

For our entree's our server suggested the porterhouse, but we weren't hungry enought for 22 oz of steak. So I had the filet with the potatoes au gratin.

I asked for the sauce on the side and I'm glad I did. I don't drink wine and that's basically what it tasted like. The potatoes were ok, I didn't eat a lot of them because I was full from my steak.

DH went with the New york strip with the paprika fries. He loved everything, he usually isn't a fan of steaks in steakhouses. He loves sauces and prefers a BBQ steak at home smothered in BBQ sauce. He usually doesn't care for marinated steaks, but he loved this one. And the fries were to die for.

He too, asked for the sauce on the side. It was peppercorn something. I ended up using his sauce and he didn't use any.

For desserts DH ordered the lemon pudding and blueberry shake based on our servers recommendation. He loved everything, he was kinda full from dinner and this dessert was very light and fluffy.

I had the chocolate indulgence and gelato cone (not sure of the actual name as it isn't on allears' menu) This was really good too, but a little rich. DH's dessert was the best.

Overall we loved the Yachtsmen and will definitely return. It was DH's favorite restaurant of the whole trip.

Everything looks delish! What I really want to know is how you felt leaving your adorable daughter? We are leaving in 15 days and I'm nervouse how I will handle leaving the baby! (9 months old) Love your review title!

Mmm, that onion bread at Yachtsman is wonderful isn't it? :)

It was amazing, best bread pre-meal I've ever had.

The day we were leaving I was seriously second guessing myself. I was more scared of how she would do with the in-laws, would she sleep the whole night there in her pack and play, would she eat well, would she have fits everyday because we weren't there.

Well, everything went perfectly. She slept like if she were in her crib, she ate like she did at home and she never even noticed we were gone. All of that helped greatly, because if she wouldn't have been good it would have been a lot harder to enjoy ourselves.

So because of that we were ok. I'd call once a day to see how she was. The only time I'd really miss her was when we were in the parks and we'd notice babies around her age. But then we'd remember she was probably having more fun at home and we were doing a lot more than we would have if she was with us.

All in all it went great, when we got home it was as if we'd never left. Go, have fun and everything will be great. Then when you get home, you'll get to start planning his first trip.

We eat it with no sugar and dip it in ketchup, weird I know. The steak was really good and I was surprised with the amount on lobster on it.

And here no-one believes me when I tell them that mac and cheese is a normal side-dish in other parts of the world.:rotfl:
To me it does sound strange esp. combined with steak and lobster!!

Today was AK day. We had lunch reservations at 11am at Yak n' yeti. We had gone here on our honeymoon trip and it was just ok. Now when the time came for this trip, I almost booked Tusker house, but didn't since were not that adventurous.

We were one of the first ones called in and were seated on the second level at the window. We loved this area, it was quiet and we could see all the people outside. For appetizers I had the lettuce cups.

These were wonderful. Fresh and very yummy and there were a lot of them.

DH had the pot stickers and enjoyed them very much. Although my app was the better of the 2.

SAM_1089 by vikkii19, on Flickr

For our entrees, DH went with the ribs.

SAM_1091 by vikkii19, on Flickr

He said they were just alright. He wasn't a big fan of the sauce, it was a little too spicy for him. He ate it all anyways.

For my entree, I had the crispy mahi mahi.

SAM_1092 by vikkii19, on Flickr

OMG, this was sooo good. Best fish I've ever eaten and the jasmine rice was wonderful too. Also the portion is a lot bigger than it appears in the picture. This was my best entree of the trip.

Now it was time for desserts, as full as we were I couldn't wait for my favorite dessert from our 2009 trip. The fried wontons.

SAM_1094 by vikkii19, on Flickr

These were even better than I remembered. I just hope they keep it on the menu for our next visit.

DH had the cheesecake.

SAM_1093 by vikkii19, on Flickr

He really liked this cheesecake. It was his best cheesecake of the trip, it was light and fluffy and not too rich.

This was one of our best meals of the trip. This was my favorite meal of the whole trip. It beat out all signature meals we tried. We will definitely be returning.

That mahi mahi at Y&Y looks delicious! Might have to add on the list of places to try.
