Quick Eat it while it's hot, Nevermind, we don't have the baby - DXDP update 04/01

Powdered sugar on french toast must be an American thing! I though everyone ate it that way. :rotfl: You steak with lobster looks so good!

We eat it with no sugar and dip it in ketchup, weird I know. The steak was really good and I was surprised with the amount on lobster on it.

I wanted to update for the last 2 days, but couldn't get the wireless internet at Jambo House working. I went to the concierge desk and a lot of guests were having the same problems. Finally last night they added another wireless network for Jambo House and it now works.

That means I have 2 full days of updates for you guys. I'll start with our first day. Our flight landed 20 minutes early at 9:30am, we got our rental and made our way towards AKV. Our room wasn't ready when we got here so we headed to DTD since we had lunch reservations at Planet Hollywood. Our reservations weren't until noon, but we got there around 11am and since they were open we ate then.

For appetizers I had the blackened shrimp

SAM_0874.jpg

These were good, a little spicy not too bad and the mustard dipping sauce was good. The only down side was there were only 5 shrimp.

DH got the chicken crunch

SAM_0872.jpg

He really liked this, there were 4 really big pieces of chicken. The batter was light and kind of sweet tasting and it was served with what we thought was the same as the shrimp (we might be wrong, but it tasted the same)

For our entrees, I got the beef fajita's

SAM_0877.jpg

These were really good, they came with 4 tortilla's. The only downside were the tortilla's, they came out of a bag.

DH had the ribs and fries, he enjoyed them. He liked the sauce on the ribs and said the fries were just ok.

SAM_0876.jpg

Now I forgot to take a picture of dessert, but we had the same as our last trip so I'll include that picture instead. The only difference was, back in 2009 they were sharing desserts for 2. So you had to agree on the same dessert. This wasn't a problem for us, but it probably was for others. This time we each got our own dessert, but they were smaller than the one we got for 2 last time. We both got the strawberry cheesecake and it was typical
cheesecake and was good. Now just imagine the cheesecake in the picture cut in half and that is what we got.

DSC03884.jpg

During lunch we got a text that our room was ready, so we headed back to AKV to unpack. Then we headed to MK.... bad idea. MK had EMH until 3am and it was a madhouse. 45 minutes for Jungle cruise, 35 minutes for IASM. We basically just walked around and only did 2 to 3 rides before our dinner reservations.

We had dinner reservations at Tony's for 8pm. At around 7:30pm we checked in and asked for an outside table and we'd be willing to wait. The parade was at 9pm and I was hoping to be able to watch the parade. The lobby was full and people were being turned away. Our buzzer went off at 7:50. I thought it would be a longer wait and was kind of disappointed it wasn't since the parade was only in 1 hour and 10 minutes.

They brought out the rolls and olive oil dipping sauce at the same time as our appetizers. They were alright, but a little messy.

SAM_0923.jpg

I had the zucchini fries

SAM_0924.jpg

These were really good and the dipping sauce was amazing with them. Dh had one bite, took the zucchini out of it and ate the batter. Guess he doesn't like zucchini.

Now our entrees came out and we weren't even done with our appetizers, it was only like 8pm at the time. That is when I realize we would not be watching the parade from our table. I was actually not really disappointed because by that time I was really tired since we had been up since 4 am.

For our entree's I had the shrimp scampi minus the tomatoes.

SAM_0926.jpg

I loved this. I love pasta dishes and I love shrimp. So this was perfect for me. It was really garlicky which I like, but DH doesn't so when he took a bite he didn't enjoy it.

DH had the steak.

SAM_0925.jpg

DH doesn't care for pasta. He'll eat it if it's what I make for dinner, but would never order it. He was hesitant on ordering the steak at a pasta place, but was pleasantly surprised. The steak was cooked like he ordered it, medium
well. And it came with some kind of hash brown potatoes which he really liked too.

For desserts I had the pistachio creme brulee

SAM_0928.jpg

I basically booked this meal for this dessert. I had it back on our honeymoon trip and it was my favorite dessert of the whole trip. It did not disappoint, it was the same as I remembered.

DH got the hazelnut chocolate cake

SAM_0927.jpg

There was nothing on the menu that really caught his eye. He really wanted the ice cream bomb, but he was cold at this point and didn't want to eat ice cream. He said the cake was ok. He is not too big on chocolate so that is probably why.

That was our first day. I will hopefully have our second day done before tonight. And if DH decides on a nap it might be sooner.

What does day 2 bring.... F&W booths, and already a change in the lineup.

Ketchup on french toast?! I've never heard of that. Maybe I'll try it one day.

I'm glad you liked Planet Hollywood. Most don't care for it, but if I ever go again now I know what to order. :) Those hash brown potatoes at Tony's look amazing!

Veeery interesting. I've never fancied Tony's, possibly because one of our party doesn't care for Italian but now I've seen those photos a rethink may be called for.

Good start, looking forward to the rest!

What a fun report!! Just loving it!! Those ribs where HUGE!! Can't wait to enjoy the journey with you!!

We actually really enjoyed PH, and did on our Honeymoon trip too. DH loved to hashbrown potatoes, but I can't comment since I didn't try them.

Great updates :goodvibes

Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip

Thanks, we're enjoying ourselves so far.

Loving the report so far!

DH doesn't like Italian either, but really enjoyed dinner. It's nice to know there is something on the menu for non pasta people.

Cyndi

Thanks, they were huge and I couldn't believe he ate all of them. That man can eat and eat and doesn't gain a pound. :confused3

Finally Day 2

I was up at 5:30am on day 2 so I waited until 6am and headed towards the Mara to get breakfast. I had a fruit cup with water in my refillable mug and I brought DH a cheese danish and coffee for when he woke up.

SAM_0931.jpg

SAM_0930.jpg

I ate my fruit cup, it was ok. Then that cheese danish was staring at me. I had to try it, so I took a bite, but didn't get any of the cheese, so I took another. OMG...heavenly, I had to restrain myself from eating it. Finally DH woke up 20 minutes later. He loved the danish too.

We then got ready and headed towards the bus stop for Epcot. We waited and waited and waited, finally a CM comes and says it will be about 11 minutes for a bus to Epcot, by this time there are 4 scooters and about 50 people waiting for the Epcot bus. So we decided to take the car. We finally got to Epcot at about 8:55am and it was crazy, it took 20 minutes for bag check and when we finally got to Soarin it was already a 45 minute wait.

Sorry for going a little off track, but I just wanted to show you how busy it was. Ok back to the food, since it was already crazy busy, we headed to World Showcase at around 10:45am and the booths were starting to open. We went to Canada first and got the chicken chipolte sausage and the salmon.

SAM_0962.jpg

SAM_0963.jpg

Both were good, DH usually likes sausage, but thought this one was a little too spicy for him.

Then we went to Greece for the chicken souvlaki

SAM_0964.jpg

This was good too, DH had never had souvlaki and tzaziki sauce before and really liked it.

Then we got to Ireland for the Fisherman's pie

SAM_0965.jpg

DH loved this, it was his second favorite, I thought it was just alright.

France was up next where we got the escargot and the coq au vin

SAM_0974.jpg

SAM_0973.jpg

The coq au vin was my least favorite, I don't like wine so that explains it. DH ate most of it. I loved the escargot, they were great and had a strong garlic flavor.

Next we went to Hops and Barley and each got a lobster roll and claw cuddler.

SAM_0986.jpg

SAM_0987.jpg

I loved them, but DH didn't like the dill on the lobster rolls. He also couldn't get over the price, he kept saying we could get 2 whole lobsters for the price of 1 lobster roll.

By this point it was getting hot, so I stopped for one of these. Frozen Fanta...yum

SAM_0989.jpg

Then we got to Germany and got the sausage in pretzel roll. The CM couldn't get the computer to work to use a snack credit, after about 5 tries, they just gave it to me. This was really good, I only got a little bite, because DH
scarfed it down so fast. This was his favorite.

Our next stop was China where we got the shrimp and noodles and the pot stickers.

SAM_0995.jpg

I ate the noodles, DH didn't even want to try it. I thought they were good, but the noodles were cold, it would have been better hot. DH really like the pot stickers.

It was now 1pm and we could barely pass through World Showcase at this point. I wanted tacos from Mexico, but there were no less than 25 people in line, so I passed and just wanted to get out of there.

We decided to cancel our dinner reservation and go back to the hotel for a swim. I got to the Epcot guest relations to cancel the reservation and make a new one. We wanted to eat around 8pm and at a resort. She named what was available and we went with........

You'll have to wait for the next installment.

Dinner day 2

We decided on Cape May. We went here on our Honeymoon and really enjoyed it. I let DH decide and that's where he wanted to go.

DH started with salad

SAM_1022.jpg

I got fried shrimp and some sort of beef...it was good.

SAM_1023.jpg

Then DH got a mixture

SAM_1026.jpg

He had ribs, green beans, potatoes, chicken nuggets and other stuff I'm not too sure about.

I had these babies

SAM_1024.jpg

They were really good.

DH went for another mixed plate

SAM_1025.jpg

Then he went for more salad, If you hadn't noticed he loves caesar salad.

SAM_1022.jpg

Then the desserts, here is my plate

SAM_1028.jpg

The oreo bon bons were the best and the key lime tart, was the worst. The other 2 were alright.

Here is DH's desserts

SAM_1029.jpg

He had the flan, oreo bon bon and raspberry mousse.

Next up, day 3... hoping to catch up today.

Oooh I love a live report :cool1: F&W snacks look lovely. Did they hit you with the new cancellation charge policy for chaning your Dinner ressie?

Yum! All of your F & W choices look excellent! Also, I love your nails. :)
I have been wanting to try Cape May for dinner, thanks for the pictures!

I'm stuck on the ketchup on french toast thing. As a Canadian, I KNOW that's not a Canadian thing. Is it an Atlantic Canada thing or just your family's thing???

No, I had made the reservation before the new CC guarantee, but they did need a CC to make the new reservation as it is in the list.

Thanks, we really enjoyed F&W and you should try Cape May it was really good.

Love your reviews and your pictures! Thanks for sharing! :lovestruc

Thanks, hoping to have them finished this week.

I'm stuck on the ketchup on french toast thing. As a Canadian, I KNOW that's not a Canadian thing. Is it an Atlantic Canada thing or just your family's thing???

I guess it must be our family thing then.:confused3

So I guess I wasn't cut out for live reports. I kept having trouble with the free wireless internet in the room. The connection would come and go and I just got fustrated with it. I would leave it open while we were out and set it to upload my photos and when I would get back the connection had failed. I wanted to update once I got back, but we had another mishap. My camera fell in the France water fountain and wouldn't turn on. This happened on our 6th day and therefore I don't have any pictures from Thursday afternoon to the end of our trip. Fortunately, it didn't damage the memory card and I was still able to retrieve my photos from the first part of the trip.

With all that I was going to forget about this report, but decided you might still want to hear about it. So I will go on and finish this report... even without photos for the last 2 1/2 days.

Monday November 14th,

We started with breakfast at Boma, I really wanted to try Boma and was a tad disappointed. I didn't really care for the goat cheese eggs and everything else was just ok.

Here are our plates.

We aren't that adventurous eaters and were intimidated by some of the stuff there. We probably won't eat here again.

Lunch Monday November 14th

Lunch was at 1:45pm at Mama Melrose and we had the FDP. This was the longest wait we've had. We got there at 1:35pm and we're finally seated at 2:30pm. The lobby was full, people were basically on top of each other. I couldn't believe how busy it was, that is until we got to our table and there were plenty of empty tables back there. The only conclusion we came to was that they were probably under staffed that day.

Now onto the food. DH had the caesar salad as his appetizer. He liked it, but didn't like that it wasn't cut up.

SAM_1066 by vikkii19, on Flickr

Here are the rolls, they were good and warm but it was a little messy with the olive oil.

SAM_1063 by vikkii19, on Flickr

I had the clams oreganatta. This was really yummy, the sausage pieces were good and so were the clams. It was full of garlic and there was a big piece of foccacia bread under all of it.

SAM_1067 by vikkii19, on Flickr

For our entrees I had the spaghetti con Vongole, which was good, DH's entree was better. It had a nice taste to it, but was a little spicy and I wasn't really expecting that.

SAM_1070 by vikkii19, on Flickr

DH had the chicken campanelle. Now he surprised me, because DH doesn't eat pasta. I know.... the horror :scared1: Well he wasn't in the mood for steak or flatbreads so he decided to try pasta and went with this based on our servers recommendation. He loved it, turns out he likes pasta just doesn't like tomato based sauces.

SAM_1069 by vikkii19, on Flickr

For desserts we both ended up with the Chocolate Amerettini Cheesecake. It was alright, not the best nor the worst cheesecake ever.

SAM_1071 by vikkii19, on Flickr

We both really enjoyed our lunch here and would return even with the wait we had.

i'm in ! I love the pic of the filet with lobster , yummmmmmm !
all the other pics are great also , french toast with ketchup is not so weird , I eat scrambled eggs with ketchup , same thing just adding bread , right ?

Glad you revived this or I never would have found this. Although I have to say, I love French Toast and hate ketchup so the thought of putting it on my yummy, delicious French Toast almost made me a little ill.

Thanks for the F&W photos. We are going during F&W 2012, so I was hoping I'd see some photos from 2011.

Oh yeah...and Lia - ADORABLE!
