Quick Aulani Studio Question

In looking at the dvcmember website, the floor plans for the Aulani standard hotel room and the standard studio room look the same - the only difference I can really see is that the studio has a microwave and wet bar.

If I don't care about the view from the window (if we're flying all the way to Hawaii, we're going to be on the beach, not looking at it thru the window of our room), is there any substantive difference between the two classes of room?

Thanks.

The hotel room will have 2 queen beds, the studio will have a queen bed and a queen sleeper sofa. The studio should have a regular drip coffee maker (Mr Coffee style) where the hotel room has a single cup (pod) brewer.

A regular bed sounds much better than a pull out, to me.

Is there a downside to the hotel that I'm not seeing or don't know enough to ask???

Depends on how many people in the room. With the sleeper sofa closed, it opens the studio and makes it seem larger.

It's possible that the hotel room may be smaller (not sure of the actual square footage of either). I believe that there are only 6 hotel rooms that were made available to DVC.

If you aren't looking for a 1-bedroom or larger, I don't see a downside to either the studio or hotel room.

While our DS would probably like having a real bed I still like having the kitchenette to use. I think the refrigerator may be a larger size in the studio than in the hotel room but I don't know that for sure tho (you'd have to call Aulani to ask). We use the microwave and toaster a lot so they're important to us when it comes to having breakfasts in the villa etc. Another way to travel on a budget for us.

Thanks all. I appreciate the comments.

We're a family of 3, so while the extra room in a 1 bedroom would be nice, I would rather take the difference in points and stay in a smaller room for longer - it's Hawaii, other than sleeping and using the washroom, my view is how much time are we really going to be spending in the room anyway (the answer is hopefully not much).

And we're juice/yogurt/apple/granola bar people for breakfast anyway, so everything should fit fine in a bar fridge.

Fingers crossed that between studios and the hotel rooms, there will be something available for a week around Easter when our 7 month window hits....

FWIW for about a minute we considered going over spring break (the week before Easter) this year and there were studio openings available for several days after our 7 mo. window opened. I was surprised it hadn't booked up completely but my theory on it was that many people want to go for longer than 1 week when they go. It's not such a big deal or big expense if you're coming from the west coast but for anybody coming any further it's a BIG trip for only 7 nights. The airfare is also higher then. Between those 2 reasons is why we opted to wait for summer. If we went over spring break we'd have ONLY HAD 7 nights and the air was a lot higher. By putting it off until summer we're getting a 2 week vacation for slightly less cost on the air. So your odds of getting something may be higher than you think. Good luck!!
