I am sure there must be a post on this topic already, but I was not able to find it.

We will be taking my son to Disneyland on his 4th birthday. We can't afford a character breakfast/lunch/dinner thing, but furthermore, since we will only be visiting for one day, don't want to take the two hours or so to do this, although I am sure he would love it.

My question is, where can we take him for lunch in the park, where he would enjoy it the most. I am thinking maybe a dessert with a candle in it or where the waiters sing Happy Birthday, or something like that.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

What about a non-character lunch at a hotel? Does Storyteller's Cafe at GCH have a lunch? What about PCH Grill in Paradise Pier hotel? I know those places have dinner, and we quite like the dinner at PCH Grill.

There's a birthday party thing at the Plaza Inn, but it's something like 15 per person and it's just decorating a cake, meeting character, singing happy birthday...could be fun, but it's not a solo thing.

We had a birthday lunch for my guy's 4th in Blue Bayou...was supposed to just be desserts, but then we noticed they were giving him ice cream for free (said it on a slip of paper that had our PS info left on the table) and then the server brought rolls, so hubby and I felt guilty and ordered a lunch to split. E refuses to eat the kid's food there so he just had the ice cream.

Big Thunder Ranch has the barbecue with Woody and the gang.

Golden Horseshoe is a show for free and you can bring in lunch or eat there.

Blue Bayou is another place. The split meal is where Person A orders a meal then Person A and Person B each get soup or salad, one side, one veggie, and half of the main course such as fish or chicken. So you are getting two full meals except for the meat. I am not sure what their split plate is but that is cheap and they have a kids menu. For free you can get plates if you want to share. Tell them it is his birthday and make sure he has a free birthday button. I like this the best and you get a pirate like atmosphere.:thumbsup2

Disneyland is now offering birthday cakes at all of the sit down restaurants.

Carnation Cafe would be a fun place to celebrate a birthday and they have yummy HUGE ice cream sundaes that you could order.
