Questions ???

We are going to DW from April 28-May 7. The last two years we stayed at Pop and we loved it. We wanted to stay somewhere different this year so I have booked Carribean Beach. The preferred rooms were all booked so the CM suggested I request Jamaica Bldg. 44. I have posted some questions on the resorts board but I was wondering if any fellow Canadians have stayed at CB and what their thoughts were. I have read quite a few comments and some are making me question my decision. Do you think it is too spread out? We were hoping for some type of discount but nothing so far. I did book with CAA for $163/night. Does this seem reasonable? Thanks!

Hi -

We're stayed there twice before - both times in Jamaica as that is our preferred spot. It's just a relaxing short walk over the bridge to get to the restaurants/store. We're planning on staying at POP/CSR this April. I'm not sure whether your $163 rate is in CAD or USD. We booked our CSR room directly through Disney and it was US$132+tax using a CAA discount rate.

Just a suggestion but why don't you rent some pts from a DVC member and stay at a DVC property in a studio.

You can usually get a great deal and all resorts have a private balcony, fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee maker in the room (very convenient)

We have seen all the properties and they are all wonderful and different in their own ways.

Again, just a suggestion.

It was a couple of years since we stayed at CBR, but we loved it (Jamaica building 42 - it was so quiet!). Going again in May and splitting time between CBR (our DD insisted we stay here again) and POFQ. Can't talk about your price though, because our son is working at Epcot, so he got us a room with a CM discount.

Thanks for the input! The $163 was USD but it includes taxes--still a bit higher than your quote. It seems that Jamaica is OK, as long as it isn't too far a walk from the food court.

I would love to rent DVC points but I am a bit nervous. I am not very well educated on the way things work and I don't want to move locations. I understand that there are a lot more points required for weekend nights and I will be there for two weekends. Maybe I should check the details. The DVC resorts look fabulous!!

We've stayed at CBR a number of times in Jamaica. Love the walk over the bridge to the food court.

I agree with everyone that Jamaica is only a short walk to Old Port Royale. As well we found that the Jamaica bus stop is usually first so we rarely had to stand or wait for another bus.

I think you will really enjoy the extra space in the rooms (260 sq. ft for Pop vs 340 sq. ft. for CBR).
