Questions regarding dining and wine on the 7 night Western

We're planning our first 7 night Disney Cruise(we've none a 3 & 4 day in the past). We have early seating. Our party is 4 adults, and 4 kids ages 6,7,10, & 10. Here are my questions:

1)What would you experts expect our rotation to be?

2)Based on this estimate, when would our character breakfast be and at what time?

3)If we plan to drink wine every night but are not really wine critics or anything...should we buy the package? My DH says the classic pkg at $145 basically discounts the wines down to $20 a bottle which is a savings of a few dollars a bottle so it's probably worth it.

4)Also regarding the wine...with 4 of us, one bottle a night probably won't cut it so could we use up the package say in 4 nights instead of 7? And then just order off the wine list if we want more bottles? You're not limited to 1 bottle a night right? Just 7 over the course of the cruise?

Thanks!

Not too sure about the rotation-- I would think due to 4 kids (no teens) that it would be APLAPLA. We usually had LAPLAPL--all adults. But I've heard some people haven't received the rotation they figured they'd have. As for the wine pkg.--we enjoyed it! We actually carried 4 bottles on in our carry on to have in the room while getting ready for dinner, etc. And then had 3 of the 6 adults drinking wine. One per night was fine for us--but I would think you could definitely drink it faster since I know they let you have the leftovers if you don't finish all the bottles. Heck--the faster you finish the wine the more you'll buy which equals $$$$$ for Disney.

We have 2 children (ages 8 and 10) and are going on the 8/16 Western cruise. My question is: Will the kids have to eat off of the children's menu or can they order of the adult menu? I don't believe we got any break on the price of a Cat 8 stateroom because 2 of the 4 cruisers were children.

Children can always order off any menu that they wish. Likewise, my father has enjoyed a mickey ice cream bar or two in the dining rooms!

A while back somebody posted a schedule of what events were what nights on all the different cruises but since then people have said there have been changes. Does anybody know which nights are which on the Western now?

Any further guesses into what our rotation might be and thus, when our character breakfast might happen?

Has anybody gotten the wine package and had more than 1 bottle per night with it?

Sonya,

ThreeCircles has put together a website for the 8/16/03 cruisers.

On the home page scroll down to where it says "NEW!" He has created an activities matrix for each dining rotation. It tells when the character breakfast will be for each rotation.

Hi!

I can't give you any answers as far as the dining rotation, but I wanted to put in my 2 cents on the wine issue.

I'm somewhat open to different kinds of wine, but my husband just likes a couple of types and that's it. We did the Eastern itinerary last year and brought on our own favorite wine. That way my husband had the wine he likes best, and I had the option of having our old standby or choosing a glass of something different. We were travelling with friends and a couple of nights we shared our wine with them after they tried a few others they didn't care for. We were charged a corkage fee, of course, but it was worth it to have something we could fall back on.

Good luck with your trip -- happy cruising!

Sonya,

Dining rotations aren't set in stone, but both times we've gotten the PLAPLAP rotation. Kids were (11, 9, 4 and 14, 11, and 7).

See other poster's comments on character breakfasts.

As for the wine package, I'd go for the premium. It's a little more $$ but better wines. Remember if you have any wine left you are able to take home what you have left. HTH

We have kids 11,14 and 17 and got the APLAPLA rotation with an additional two adults at our table. That gave us a Sunday character breakfast.

We went with the standard wine package as it had the Austi I wanted for our anniversary several other wines I knew my husband was comfortable with.

On the 7/5 cruise formal night was Monday and semi formal night was Thursday.

thank you all soooo much!:p

We are going with the classic wine package as it has several wines we tried on the wonder that we really liked and want to have again.

As far as rotation and character breakfast, I guess we'll have to just wait and see.
