We have already purchased the $86 7-day tickets for an upcoming trip in May, 2008 with our grandkids. My husband and I just booked a trip to Orlando from Jan. 6 - 18th and are now looking at turning in two of the $86 tickets to get annual passes instead.

I have already called Universal and they said that we could do this, but I have a couple of questions.

Obviously, to get the $86 applied to an annual pass we will need to do this at Universal. (Go to Guest relations?)

Which annual passes should we get? (my husband and I will be in Orlando at least 4 times in 2008, so annual passes are the way to go for us I believe)

I'm assuming we'll have to pay parking for our first day, correct, until we obtain the annual passes?

Never having been to Universal, what is parking like with annual passes? (We have been to Disney many times we are VERY familiar with the parking there.)

Any suggestions for first timer's heading to Universal would also be appreciated! We are staying at our condo in Orlando, so not staying at one of the Universal hotels.

I would recommend the Preferred Annual Passes that includes parking and NO blackout dates. You will also get park discounts on food and merchandise.

You are correct about the parking on the first day. After you have your APs, you will not have to pay to self-park but they do offer valet at a discount. Universal has two parking garages that you would park in and then you would walk over to the parks.

If you are going to turn in the other tickets, you can do that at the ticket window I believe.

Hi check out the blackout dates on the power pass if they don't coincide with your dates then get 1 Power pass and 1 Preferred pass for discounts :goodvibes

Thanks for the suggestion on the power pass! I did check the blackout dates and we would not be going on those dates, so looks like we can save $'s by getting one power pass and one preferred annual pass. THANKS!!

i did what the op is wanting to do.

i bought the $86 special and changed my mind.
traded in for the pap and paid the difference.
turned in the tickets and had them invalidated then.

easy as pie

Did you do this just recently? If so, did Universal give you the 15 month annual pass that is advertised on the website, or the 12 month pass? (I'm assuming the 15 mo. pass is only available if you buy on-line.) Also, what is the price difference you had to pay for the preferred pass?

Also, did they allow you to pay the difference using credit card?

The 15 months is an online special but it never hurts to ask when you are upgrading at Guest services.

Also, what is the price difference you had to pay for the preferred pass?

You pay the difference between the price of your ticket and the price of the preferred annual pass. If your ticket cost $89.95 online and the annual pass costs $189.95, then you pay $100 plus tax.

Also, did they allow you to pay the difference using credit card?
Credit cards are accepted for upgrades.
