Pixar Place Hotel DCA Entrance Permanently Closing

Cant understand why they would have spent money updating this entrance just to close it 6 months later. That is a waste of money

That’s Disney for you. After 9-11, they shuttered the Disney Institute resort at WDW and accelerated renovations (new furniture, appliances - most rooms had full kitchens, etc) … only to tear it down without ever reopening to make way for DVC Saratoga Sprongs.

Not only doing away with a benefit for PPH guests, but also taking away a benefit from GCH guests by making their entrance more crowded
Seriously. Are the folks at Disney that make these decisions really that stupid? Have they seen the crowds in the morning at GCH waiting to get into the parks? Pay $700-1000 per night at GCH only to have a ton of non-GCH guests slow down entry even further. Brilliant!!

How long was it even open for? Only since Covid? Before that? It seems like a decently big investment for such a short period. Anyway, disappointing. Although it's already closing at noon each day, so kind of useless if you're coming back from an afternoon break anyway.

This was predictable. They had a similar entrance when DCA opened in 2001 only to close it. When they reopened it a few years ago I knew they wouldn't want to pay to staff it long-term. It is bizarre they opted to spend the money on it. I also believe they literally just updated the turnstiles so this must have been a last minute decision.

Yeah, I think they have the new scanners, so weird timing.

Yes, they only updated it back in June with the new scanners...after they had already cut the operating hours of that gate to only noon back in January this year.

this was always our favorite entrance staying at the villas, we were able to easily go in and out throughout the day and at night with no waits, they had like 5-6 cast members doing security and scanning you in and we never waited in a line, but at park opening it would be very crowded. we will for sure be sad to not use it anymore

Maybe that was in the morning for opening but I've used it other times and it had literally 2 people working it. 1 security and and 1 scanning ticket agents.

Disney can't afford 2-3 people to man this entrance?

that was usually in the afternoon id see that, but i thought they could have 2-3 as well, a real bummer
