Hello.. So with everyone's help.. I've got most of my disigns, got my iron-on transfer paper and printed the disigns on them, purchased t-shirts (and washed and them)... Now... I'm ready to iron the disigns onto the shirts.. but a couple of questions please:

1. The shirts are wrinkled after drying them.. can I iron the shirt first before I put the actual iron-on transfer on them?

2. What can I use to iron the transfers on? I've read NOT to use the ironing board because the heat will not transfer properly. I've read to iron it on a wooden cutting board.. but my cutting board is plastic so can't do that.

3. After the disigns are ironed on, do I have to hang them to dry or something of that sorts? Or can I just fold right away and pack it?

Thanks for all the input.. This is my first time doing iron-on transfers and I just don't want to mess them up! Thanks.

I use my kitchen island counter top with a pillowcase under the shirt. I always iron the shirt before ironing on the transfer, I just let the shirt cool before I start the transfer ironing part. You do not hve to hang them up to dry. I just hang the tee over the back of the couch until it is completely cool.

Sometimes, when I make shirts for "Big Gives" I procrastinate and iron on right before packing them up to go to the post office, to send to the families. I make sure they are cool and the design is not folded and ship it off. When the families post the give gifts on their PTRs the shirts always look just like they did when they left me.

Hope this helps and happy ironing!

Do you think I could use my granite counter tops with a pillowcase underneath?

I have corian(sp) and you can't tell i iron on it. Can you sit hot pans on it? My countertop does not feel that hot after I iron and sometimes I do 6 shirts in a row. I also iron on a piece of plywood that my DH hs in the garage when I want to sit on the floor in the living room and watch TV while I iron. That has worked too. Come to think of it when I had to do one and my countertop was too full of "stuff" I threw the pillow case on the ceramic tile floor and ironed there.

Just make sure it's hard flat surface that you can push down on, and heat will not damage.
