Hi, everyone! I am excited to say that DH and I just returned from the Magic Western cruise and while on the ship, became DVC members:) I seem to have come up with a bunch of questions right after we told our guide we had no more. Hopefully you can all help
1. Do DVC members get any type of discount on park passes or disney merchandise?
2. Is there parking at the beach club villas?
3. We bought 250 pts and will bank this year's with our use year beginning in February--so, as of 2/03 we will have 500 pts and will be able to vacation only one week next summer at WDW, so we can pretty much afford to stay at most of the resorts. Which is your favorite resort?
4. what other perks are there to being DVC members besides having nice accommodations?

1. Only park pass discount is 10% off the Ultimate Park Hopper Pass (length of stay). You also get 10% off of waterpark pass and 10 or 20% for Disney Quest (that has varied at different times). Also, 20% off miniature golf courses. DVC members get 10% off merchandise at any Disney Store except those in WDW and Downtown Disney. Note, if you have an American Express card, that combined with a DVC card does get you 10% off merchandise at the Disney Stores in Downtown Disney (as long as you buy a certain amount which I believe is $45 or more).

2. Parking is shared with Beach Club. You park in the Beach Club lot (which is actually very near the villas). Valet parking is free (other than tip) to DVC members.

3. People have their own favorites. Ours is BWV where we own.

4. There are various restaurant discounts (usually 10% and that change from time to time), mostly for non-Disney restaurants in Downtown Disney but also for the Cape May Cafe, Yachtsmen's Steakhouse (10%), and 20% off at any Swan/Dolphin restaurant. There also discounts on recreation activities such as boats, spas, and on WDW programs (such as the tours offered). You will want to go to the official DVC members site, www.disneyvacationclub.com once you get your password (which you can just call and get from your sales rep) it has pages dedicated to latest list of benefits and discounts.

Welcome Home. :)

Drusba forgot to mention....when you pull into the resort, they all say 'Welcome Home'. OK, not a perk, but a warm fuzzy just the same.

You also get to visit these boards and obsessively plan your next 10 years vacations, then re-plan, and re-plan, and take your friends and extended family, then regret taking the family, and then make a special trip to make up for the trip with the extended family, and you get to authoritatively argue over which resort is the best. :p

Drusba--Thank you for all the great information. I have already started a DVC folder in my computer, and copied your post and Joe's!
Joe--you have no idea how valuable the "welcome home" is to me! Looking forward to disney vacations sustains me through very stressful days at work, and all my worries seem to dissipate when I am planning my next ten years' worth of vacations! What an awesome time we are going to have!! I read the book from cover to cover last night and cannot wait to call and bother Humberto (our "Guide") with a million questions--though, of course, I think of all of you as the ultimate source!
I had no idea about all the discounts--that is awesome!
Joe--I have to admit-- I was already fantasizing about being able to take my parents on our first trip or to vacation with friends without worrying about the cost of accommodations. I am sure I will re-think that a million times!
