Hey all first time going to the Fort this summer and I have been doing my research :coffee: and I have a couple questions.

I have read you can request a loop its not guaranteed but they will try, is this correct?

If I request and pay for a preferred loop but then I don't get it what about the price difference compared to whatever I may get?

Is cable included at each campsite?

Are the loop designation still as follows?
Loop 100 - Preferred
Loop 200 - Preferred
Loop 300 - Preferred (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 400 - Premium (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 500 - Premium (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 600 - Premium (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 700 - Premium (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 800 - Premium (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 900 - Premium (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 1000 - Premium
Loop 1100 - Premium
Loop 1200 - Premium
Loop 1300 - Premium
Loop 1400 - Premium
Loop 1500 - Partial
Loop 1600 - Full (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 1700 - Full (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 1800 - Full (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 1900 - Full (Pet friendly loop)
Loop 2000 - Partial

Thanks for the help I am sure I will have more questions!!:thumbsup2

Howdy! Here are my answers:

1. Yes they will try.

2. If you reserve a Preferred you should get a Preferred. If anything, they will upgrade (at no cost) to a Premium. If you are upgraded you can still request a loop there at the check in.

3. Cable tv is available at all/any campsite and is also the method for free internet service (similar to free wifi in the other WDW resorts).

4. The loop designations are correct however be aware that any loop can be used as "overflow" pet loops. Not often but the pet loop designation is not iron-clad either.

I was in a Preferred (loop 100) back in April (requested and got that loop) and have another Preferred requested for next month. I've been upgraded to Premium from a Tent reservation.

Have a great trip. Be prepared for daily rain showers in the summer afternoons.

Yes it is essentially free. And you can simply call me "Ed".

All the WDW resorts have free guest wifi now and the Fort is the only exception. To offer the same guest internet connectivity at no net charge, campers in the camping loops can check out a cable modem kit at the Meadow Trading Post. It comes with the modem, cables, and diagrams to hook it up and get both your tv channels and internet.

Supposedly the Cast Member giving you the modem kit should take a credit card number to hold to ensure the safe return of the modem kit. When you return it, you should get the credit card slip back or have it trashed. So it is essentially free. Last time I was there the CM didn't ask for my credit card number (maybe I looked trustworthy :confused3) and I didn't have a number on file for charging purposes. But I did return the kit.

One poster (linked below) recently pointed out that the Fort at times does NOT have enough kits to go around.

There are also real free wifi hotspots at the Outpost (checkin) lobby area, the Meadow Trading Post and Pool area, and the Pioneer Hall/Trails End area. It is SLOW and low volume at peak times. Nevertheless, it's wifi without the modem kit. Some campers in loops near these locations (600 and 1400) nearest the Pool or TP can get the free wifi from the hotspots if the wind blows the bits in the right direction. :rotfl:

I'm going to try tethering next trip if we end up taking the laptop.

I just wanted to add that we just returned from a 12 night stay. We requested the modem kit on our 2nd night (not realizing there would be a waiting list) and got it on night 9. It worked great, but we would really have liked it closer to the beginning of our stay, especially considering the dependency on the new MDE for fastpasses and such.
