Hi Everyone

HAPPY NEW YEAR:Pinkbounc

We are leaving Jan 10 and staying at BWV WOOOHOOOO, I bought points from a DVC owner and I was wondering if we can use our room key as a credit card even though we are not the DVC owner? Also, if we can use our room key can I use disney dollars to pay it off at the end of our trip? I have been buying Disney dollars thurout the year but would prefer to not carry too much cash with me, I will be traveling with hubby and a 5 year old and 19 month old, the less I have to keep track of the better:teeth:

Also does anyone know if BWV has VCR's or DVD players?

And any suggestions for what we should not miss at BWV would be GREAT

Thanks

Yes, you can do the roomkey charges, even though you are not the DVC member. One thing, be sure you contact the person you are renting from to double check with Member Services that the ressie is in your name. Otherwise there could be problems at check-in.

I can't answer your BWV specific questions, though, as I haven't stayed there.

Have a great trip.

Yes, you may. When you check in , the CM will ask you if you want to leave a credit card number for incidental charging. If you choose to do so, you will be able to use your room key as a charge card for most things/places within WDW.

Also, if we can use our room key can I use disney dollars to pay it off at the end of our trip? Again, yes! You could also leave the DD as a deposit (DD work just like cash) instead of a credit card. Of course, the charge back limit would then be limited to the amount you left if you did that instead of the credit card.

You can stop at the front desk at any time to give them DD (or cash or travelers' checks, etc.) to pay for your charges. If you wait until check out day to do that, however, you will find that they have already charged your credit card. If you want to use your DD to pay for your charge backs, it's best to stop by the front desk prior to the day you plan to check out.

When we were there 12/7/03 - 12/12/03, our 2 bedroom had a DVD player in the living room. I don't know if all the VCRs have been changed out yet or not, but if I had to guess, I would say yes. If not, they should all be converted very soon.

I'm assuming that you already know that the DVDs(or VCRs if they all haven't been changed out yet) will only be in the one bedroom and larger units. The studios do not have them.

Enjoy your stay!

Not sure how much you have in Disney Dollars, but the other option is to give them the credit card and all your Disney Dollars at check-in. They will use the DD like cash on your account and subtract all your purchases. Than hit the credit card for any balance at check-out. This will save you a stop at the desk later. (You can get back anything not spent in DD).

Enjoy

Our room at BWV last month had a new Sony combo DVD/VCR. Very nice! I used the VCR to record the second to last Survivor episode, when we came back to the room after Illuminations we watched it! I figured out how to program it after I realized that the DVD/VCR remote was in the bedroom and the bedroom TV's remote was in the living room! That's not the first time that happened at a DVC resort, housekeeping must not be able to tell the difference (a DVD/VCR remote has alot more buttons). I bought a combo unit at home so that we can still record or watch our old VHS tapes and watch DVD's with the same unit.

The charge feature on your room key is great, but many of the small concession stands don't accept cards, so having a little cash or DD is a good idea. I usually took a $10 DD in my pocket each day just for water, ice cream, etc. That way if it got lost, no big deal, and I had my card for bigger purchases. Another thing you'll LOVE is that you can have purchases sent back to the hotel instead of having to lug them around. We use that benefit a lot! Have a good trip!
