Hubby, his best friend and I will be going to DL & DCA February 12-14th. I have NEVER been. NEVER thought I'd be going (!!!) but am a WDW veteran.

What shows/attractions/meals are NOT to be missed?

Can anyone recommend a character breakfast?

We are staying at the Grand Californian.

THANKS!

I would pick the Indy ride at DL as the biggest do not miss, at DCA I would add CA screaming and Soaring over CA.

Congrats on your upcoming trip! I LOVE GC! I stayed there for 4 nights in October 2001 and totally fell in love with it. I am also a big fan of WL at WDW.

If you get a chance and want a break from the parks, take the GC hotel tour. You can sign up for it at Guest Services. Unless things have changed since my visit, they are every day, I think at 2 p.m., and it lasts about an hour. It made us love the resort even more! They also show a couple of hidden mickey's, in slightly different form from the usual.

Ditto what Judy said about the best rides. Also, if the Matterhorn is running, that is unlike any ride at WDW. And Space Mountain is different too because of the sound. People have been raving about the Aladdin show at DCA, but I'm not familiar with it since it only started recently. The Fantasmic! (if it's up during your visit) is also very different from the one at MGM...beware, no stadium seating, so you'll need to find a spot on a sidewalk or something.

Character breakfasts: a lot of people I know really like the one at Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel. I think the Plaza Inn at DL has one too (we had great fun there once with Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee...one of them seemed to have a little crush on my friend!). GC has one, but it's not too interactive. Chip, Dale, and Pluto hang out in the restaurant lobby (though Chip did make it a point to visit my table and pretend to stick his toungue out at us).

Meals: make a ressie for Blue Bayou NOW! It is quite unique...it is best compared to San Angel Inn in EPCOT, but even more magical. Since you're staying at GC, I also recommend Storyteller's Cafe. They have buffets at both breakfast and dinner, but you can also order off the menu. We had the breakfast buffet, and ordered off the menu for dinner, and everything was really good! If you go there, be sure to order the corn chowder, it is out of this world!

Also, if you're looking for a quick breakfast, the little cafe (I want to call it Whitewater Snacks, but I always confuse it with the little shop in WL at WDW!) has a great deal, for about $5, they have a large, tasty biscuit with smoked bacon, egg, and cheese, with a couple pieces of fruit, and I couldn't finish it! They don't call it a sandwich, but it's kind of prepared as one. I also liked La Brea Bakery in DD for breakfast, lox and bagels!!!

There is so much, I could write even more, but I think that's a good start. Be sure to let us know if you have more questions or need clarification!
