In March, we segmented out reservation so that we could try out the dining plan for one night. We had never use the dining plan before and wanted to see how it worked for us.
We arrived on Saturday, no dining plan. Sunday, we had the deluxe dining plan. Monday - Thursday, no dining plan.
Upon checkin on Saturday, I was told that we would need to check in each day that the dining plan changed. Made sense to me. However, when I went down to the front desk to get our new keys, they told me that it wasn't necessary. The keys said
DVC MULTI on them, because of this we would not need to check in and out. I wasn't too confident about this, but okay.
We went to Hollywood Studios that morning and everything appeared to be working as they said. That is until 11:00am. At that time, the system reset and our dining credits disappeared, the key still worked in the door, but no credits.
I spent about an hour with the front desk getting it worked out. Ultimately, then cancelled our entire reservation and rebooked it as a cash reservation, but didn't tell me until I was checking out for the last time. This cleared up the issues with the dining plan. I still had to check in and out the next day, but everything worked from that point on.
There were a couple of things that happened as a result of this. Mousekeeping came to our room everyday asking if we wanted the villa cleaned (Personally, I don't like daily room cleaning), and I had to ask for a credit for internet access.
When I got home, I checked my points and everything was correct.
The moral of the story is that you may need to check in each day, or you may not.
