questions for the electronic challenged...

Neither my DH or myself are big with electronics--

our cell phones are just the basic flip phones--they do a least have a camera

anyways HD is a substitute teacher--the school hes doing a long term job at

the kids use ipods for a lot of their work

so hubby is getting the hang of how to use them--so I was thinking of getting

him one for Christmas

my main question is what exactly can you do with an ipod

what is the difference between ipods, iphones tablets and so on

what would be a good one for a beginner--any other tips or advice would be greatly appriecated

iPod is a mini-computer that uses Apple's iOS system (all iPods, iPhones, and iPads do). The applications for it are called apps. He will need an Apple account, which is free for any of them to be functional.
iPad is a tablet, or in other words, an iPod with a bigger screen. All of the above applies to it.
iPhone is an iPad with cell phone functionality built into it.

Do you have broadband internet service at home? If so, you don't really need a data plan. Data plan is mobile internet through cell service, just like the cell phone vs landline for voice phones. But you may need to install a wifi router in the house for your device to go online at your home. It's not that difficult, just make sure you password protect it.

now all I have to do is hunt around for a great deal--

how much do these usually sell for

we have att for our interent--which is wireless--my hubby can run his laptop anywhere in the house

also where or how does he get the apple account

this is all so new to us

Just to clarify, you said they are using Ipods for their work????? Are you sure it's not Ipad minis? Unless your husband is really into music, I'd go with an Apple product with a bigger screen. JMHO.

I agree with the above poster...are you sure it isnt an IPAD? I know our kids (they are in middle school) and they do a good majority of their work on the class set of IPADs. I would definitely ask your husband to clarify. I can't imagine their using that small of a screen (IPOD) to do classwork.

OP - go to Apple's website and start reading. Also do a Google search; you'll find many good explanation of Apple products and tablet comparisons.

I second the suggestion to go to Apple store. You can walk in and play with all the products. It's pretty good way to see what you like best.
