Questions for ChipnDale Express...Feeling bad for Boardwalk guests

We stayed at the BC last week. We found the bus service to be excellent! Don't believe what these other posters say! Ha ha. All of the drivers were friendly, talkative, and chock full of Disney information. My questions:

Many of the busses on early entry days were completely full when they left the BC, and bypassed the Boardwalk. Do you send another bus just to the BW when this happens? I must say this occurred several times, and each time I felt badly for BW guests.

How many people, including standing room, can fit on one of those busses?

This question might be harder to answer. Why do people feel they need to PUSH their way on to a bus that has plenty of seats!!! This was truly amazing to me to watch it over and over. And why don't people MOVE ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK????!!! I can't tell you how many times people who are standing in the middle of bus just look around and DON"T MOVE when the driver asks them over and over to do it.

OK, and the most irritating thing, is when people who arrive last at the bus stop make a bee line to the front of the line to get on the bus first. I couldn't believe the people cutting, or making their KIDS cut in front to save seats.

Truly unbelievable. You guys must just shake your heads all the time.

I'm glad you had a positive experience! We work hard to make sure things work well for you. :) In reality, we all know that things usually work out fine, and one goes on thier way. It's only when a problem occurs that you hear about something, and that might be all that you hear. We actually have a very high guest satisfaction rating (although, in my opinion, anything below 110% needs work).

Never fear. As another person just posted in another thread, extra buses were sent to the Boardwalk. One bus pulled in nearly full, but right behind it was an emty bus just for them.

On the EE morning we were down at the bus stop at 7:30 and there were quite alot of people. The bus arrived and needless to say we did not get on. However, as soon as the full bus pulled out another empyt one pulled up right behind him.

Typical routes go Swan/Dolphin/Boardwalk and Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk. So, in theory, the Boardwalk gets twice as many buses. However, as you mention, sometimes they do fill up, in which case, the other bus takes over. If it fills up as well, or there is extra demand, a bus is sent directly to the Boardwalk -- or even the Beach Club... that happened yesterday. Bus filled up at Yacht, so another was immediatly dispatched to Beach Club.

The RTS (standard floor) has about 41-45 seats, and room for 27 to stand.
The Nova LFS (low floor) has 35 seats, and room for 30-45 to stand. (Depends on single file, double file, and if they fill the back row)

A lot of people mistake us asking people to move all the way back as "overcrowding" and "jam-packing" the bus. In reality, many people refuse to move all the way to the back aisle of the bus, so now the front is like sardines while the back is open and free. A perfect way to see this is check out the buses during the park exit. When a bus leaves, and they still have thier interior lights on, check out how the passengers are distributed. 2/3rds of the time, the back will be very sparse and empty, and the front will be very dense.

Welcome to my world... but you ain't seen nothin' yet. ;)

It is up to the people already lined up and at the front of the line to disallow latecomers from cutting in front.

Thank God for power steering. Happened to read a book about history of public transportation. One bus driver interviewed by the author was saying that when (often) people crowded up front while the back was quite sparsely populated, it was much harder to steer the bus out of a bus stop long before it was full.

If the Power Steering isn't working 100%, then yeah, it can be difficult to move those wheels until the bus starts rolling. I can't imagine how those poor folks survived back then without it.

As Tyler mentioned earlier in this post, I was there lastweek. And the morning I did EE for the Magic Kingdom, the bus came pretty full. And there were alot of people ahead of us.

But much to my surprise and delight :) another bus came right up and we were able to get on.

Now this was Thursday. I didn't do EE another mornings.
