Questions about WBI cause I failed

So about an hour ago I did the WBI and my results came back saying that I failed. I'm confused.

I've been looking at previous years' threads about failing this test and reading all the advice people gave, but that just made me more confused. I feel like I did all the things people suggested:

I only answered maybe 2 or three as "neutral" in the whole test, and those were just because I wasn't really sure what it was asking. I gave mostly strong answers. I emphasized all my ideal working qualities (team work, responsibility, positivity, etc). I tried to be as honest as possible (within the bounds of my "work personality", not my personal life). You get the idea.

So what else could have been the problem? Failing the test is not the end of the world, but I'm certainly going to try to reapply in the future and I don't want to make the same mistake.

Also, just out of curiosity, does it still matter what browser you do the test on? I heard in the past that it has to be done on Internet Explorer, but I'm wondering if that is still true or not.

Don't worry so much about answering as strong as you can and not being "neutral" to anything. I answered like ten as entirely "neutral" and was fine. I also almost never, ever give a completely strongest opinion on anything unless I'm super, super sure that's how I feel. However, I don't think that's how it "should" be done either.

It's more a personality test. They want to make sure that your personality fits the Disney personality. Personally, I don't believe any of the "formulas" for "passing" the WBI. But, they can tell if you lie and in that case, you fail. For example they'll ask the same question in two different ways in two parts of the test. Like "I enjoy being around lots of people" and "I would rather be around lots of people than few." The answers better match. Make sure you read each question carefully and understand each one correctly.

Also, as long as you can open the interview, it shouldn't matter which browser you open it in. However, I always did mine in IE. Hope this helps, and better luck next time! :cheer2: *pixie dust*

I did mine on a Mac using Safari and passed. I really don't think it's the browser.

Just for the record: I did not try to manipulate the test in order to pass. That's not what I meant at all. I didn't read any advice threads prior to taking the test, I actually went back AFTER the test and was looking to see what I may have done wrong. I've done similar tests for other jobs multiple times in the past without any problems.

Also, I'm not blaming my web browser for my failing. That was a separate question because I was curious if it had been resolved or not. I did mine in Internet Explorer because my friend warned me ahead of time that it used to not work in any other browser. I was just curious cause I really hate IE.

Anyway, thank you for your input, I'll certainly be applying again next semester.

I didnt mean my comment rudely -- just giving information. I'm sorry you didn't pass. Good luck next semester!

unrelated to the post, congrats on passing the WBI! I remembered your username from my TR about the college program :thumbsup2

Hope your phone interview goes well :goodvibes

I did mine in IE and in the middle of the interview when I clicked "next" it told me that the URL wasn't valid anymore... but then a few minutes later I got an email wanting me to schedule my phone interview... so I'm not sure what happened. But I think you can call and find out what you did wrong...don't hold me to that though.
Better luck next time ::thumbsup2

Sorry! I didn't mean to make it sound like I thought you were trying to cheat the system. I'm sure that's not at all what you were thinking of. It totally sucks to fail and not be told why, that's for sure. My main point is that you make sure to read the questions on the WBI carefully so it doesn't *look* like you're lying, just because you made a mistake in reading the question. Some of them are worded kind of weird. Anyway, I really do hope you get in next time! I wish I had better advice for ya!

The same thing just happened to me! I'm so confused and frustrated. I really think that if I could talk to a person, not fill out a form on a computer, that I would really shine. I'm a great student and employee and a people-person. I have three friends who have completed the program who think I'd be a great fit for it.

I'm calling the office tomorrow morning when I wake up. Has anyone heard of people calling and having their "interview" result changed. (I put "interview" in quotations because how can it be an interview when I don't talk to anyone!? I'm a journalism student - I know an interview and that was not it.)

When I read posts like this I really worry. Sometimes it really does seem like perfectly capable and qualified people don't pass. It always makes me wonder what is really required to pass, because I'd think anyone would be able to guess what the company is looking for. Maybe they pick out really small things that we don't even realize. Because I know that when I took the WBI and passed there were some questions I answered differently because they were worded differently. So I think no one really knows what's expected of them.

I feel the same way. I know if I could have gotten to the phone interview stage that I would have done great at it. I've spent the past week or two focused almost entirely on the college program and the upcoming applications, and now I just don't even know what to do with myself. It's so discouraging because I felt really confident that I would be a good fit for the program. I'm going to call tomorrow as well. I don't know of anyone who's had their results changed, but I'm hoping I can at least get them to tell me what I did wrong.

This. Definitely this. That was the whole point of this thread. Because I don't understand.

If I don't get it this time, there isn't a second time for me. I graduate in May.

My brother and I did the WBI at the same time, but we (of course) answered differently because we have different personalities. Both of us were rejected! I really tried to be honest and even pay attention to how I answered previous questions. I'm so confused too! I know how you are feeling! It's horrible. Questions like "Are you the type of person who is assertive?" Well, is it a safety issue? Then yeah, certainly, but if someone used my toothpaste? No, I'm going to let that go. THAT I could explain to an interviewer, but how can I to a computer? So many of the questions I did not get what they meant. In an interview I could have asked for clarification or circumstances. This felt completly unfair! I'm willing to work any hours, pick up after people, work with anyone, be positive, etc.
I'm graduating- this is so sad! This was my only chance! So disappointed!

I called the number that was listed in the rejection email and they basically told me that they couldn't tell me anything. They had me leave a message with someone in a different department who will supposedly call me back within 48 hours. I don't know what this person is supposed to be able to do that the other person couldn't, but we shall see I suppose.

That just makes me more frustrated and confused, though. Why give me a phone number for someone who literally could not tell me anything I hadn't already been told? It seems as if no one really knows what the test is looking for, including Disney employees.

I really hope you get an answer, maybe even a reconsideration!

In case anyone else is still wondering about this issue:

I made some calls, sent some emails, talked to a couple of really rude people and one who was nice but not helpful, and basically the conclusion is this: There is no chance in hell of changing the results of the web interview, and no they will not tell me what I did wrong or how to improve for the next time.

Actually the conversations I had regarding this really turned me off of reapplying in the future. I get that probably tons of people contact them about this and whatnot but I am really disappointed in the uncaring/inconsiderate way that several people handled my questions. :/

I'm really sorry to hear that!

I read in other forums that people failed the wbi, then called and the recruiters asked if they used a Mac, and that internet explorer was required and they then had the interview re-set. Maybe try calling again and getting a different person and mention this. Tell them you used a Mac, even if you didn't, and maybe they'll reset like the others?

I've heard the same thing in the past, but the person I talked to said that the compatibility issues have been resolved, and that they didn't have any issues receiving my answers, so they won't reset it.

For the people who failed and are graduating, the woman I talked to said to try applying for some of the PIs. Some of them require you to be an alumni of the program, but there are a few that do not, and none of them require the WBI, which means you don't have the same 6 month waiting period and would therefore be able to apply for the Fall 2012 semester still.
