Questions About The Shuttle To Universal

We arrive in Disney on the 18th and are staying at the All Star Movies. The rough plan is to catch a shuttle and spend the day at Universal Studios on the 20th. I've been looking for information on how and when to book a shuttle, but so far haven't found anything. Can you book these at the front desk at the hotel? Do you buy the transportation and park tickets together? If anyone has information about this please post. I'm a little nervous about this part of the trip. Personally I'd rather not go off property, but the family wants to see Universal.

We usually just rent a car if we're at Disney or Universal and want to visit the other - it's usually cheaper than any of the shuttle services.

Two years ago we took the Mears Shuttle from ASMusic to IOA. We had fine service. I think it was about $13 (can't remember if that was one way or round trip, sorry).

You can find them online.

We have 11 people and renting cars is the last thing we want to do.

Besides, you'll pay $8 to park each car...

So, you booked that prior to your trip?

Sorry I should have posted it there I guess, or maybe on the Universal Boards. If it's in the wrong place the Mods can move it, and I apologize.

Yep. You just pay the driver cash. At least that's the way it was when we went.

Here's the number to call:
Airport and Attraction Shuttle Reservations
(407) 423-5566

I'm actually going to move you to the transportation board instead of the Univsersal forum. I think you'll get a better response there.

We're doing the same thing next week. We're staying at the Swan and want to take one day to go to Universal. We've arranged for a round trip ride from Fltours. We didn't want to rent a car for one day and we didn't want to go the taxi route. We felt this was the best way for us.

Not positive, but a read somewhere that the Lynx city bus service come and go from the TTC. I do know that the Lynx bus has a route that includes Universal. No idea of the pick up or drop off time, but it would be cheap.

I asked about using Lynx and then I-trolley on the US/IOA board - and they say it would take much too long....

I don't know what I am going to do.

either not go to US/IOA at all, rent a car -and do US/IOA and the outlet malls - or just do a shuttle to US/IOA...

still haven't made up my mind.

Instructions for Mears to Universal from Disney.

Step 1 - The night before you wish to go to Universal, get on ANY Disney house phone (including your resort room phone) and Dial "0". When the operator comes on, ask to be transferred to Mears.

Step 2 - When Mears comes on the line, tell them you want to go to Universal the next day, how many people in your party, what resort you are staying at, and approximately what time in the morning you want to leave.
Mears will give you a pick up time on the phone, and possibly a confirmation #.

Step 3 - The next morning go to the front of your resort about 15 minutes before the pick up time Mears gives you and wait for the bus/van.

Step 4 - When the bus/van arrives, you will pay the driver $14 CASH per person for your round trip ride to Universal. You will receive your return ticket with a phone number on it.

Step 5 - When you arrive at Universal, you may schedule your pick up time then, or call the phone # on your return ticket two hours before you wish to return to schedule your return time.

Step 6 - Once you schedule your return time, then show up at the place you were dropped off at 15 minutes before your return time, and take the bus/van back to your Disney resort.

FYI - You may stop at other resorts after you are picked up at your resort on your way to Universal. You may also stop at other resorts on your way back to Disney.

Also FYI - Tiffany Towncar provides roundtrip service to Universal from Disney resorts. Their current rates are - $65.00 roundtrip + approximately 20% tip for a 4-5 passenger towncar OR $70 roundtrip + approximately 20% tip for a 10 passenger van.

Their website and phone # for reservations can be found at www.tiffanytowncar.com.

This is personalized service and no extra stops at other resorts. You may also use a credit card for this service if that is your preference. Some drivers charge when you arrive at Universal, some only charge when they deliver you back to Disney.

When my friend and I used Mears, we did tip the driver $1 each. However, we were using the accessible van because we were on personal ECVs.

I would just gage whether you tip or not on the service you receive and what other folks are doing, but wouldn't tip more than $1 per person.
