We've always done the dining plan for WDW and are looking at a quick 4 day trip in October for the halloween party and are thinking of the 3 day dining option. What can anybody tell me about the good or the bad of DIsneylands option!? Also can breakfast in the park be applied to say for example white water snack or the bakery?? Thanks for any help and/or opinions with this!

The disneyland dining plan is NOTHING like disneyworld. Thier plan provides vouchers in specific amounts. If you use these vouchers you need to be as exact as possible they do not provide change. to me this is a novelty option and not really a dining plan per se. In my opinion your much better off paying cash or getting a gift card to pay for meals. look it up online and you can get a better view of what i mean im sure someone on here has a link or more info. sorry that is all i have to share.

There were a few posts in the fall tha mentioned some Dis members had the chance to purchase a dining plan similar to WDW's. I believe they qualified because the booked a package through WDtravel AND were staying at one of the 3 Disney hotels. I don;t know what the dates were but I would love to hear about it. But I would not do the Dining plan as it is.

Ballarinamom, I was one of those people that got to try the plan. It was similar to WDW, but still not the same value. When they put out the offer, they did not have things down firm. After we bought the plan, they changed the amount of vouchers it would take at a few of the restaurants. For instance, they made Goofy's two vouchers which was not near the value that two vouchers at Cinderella's Castle would get you. It was still a bunch of vouchers to juggle (not on the Key card). This was supposed to be a trial. From my experience, if they did make it permanent, it still would not be worth it like it is at WDW.

Hi ~ to budget for meals I purchase gift cards. Last month I had $300 in gift cards, I purchased a $50 GC each time I got paid. I didn't use my debit card once! I even have a couple GC's with $ left on them. I believe you can purchase 1 GC and just keep adding to it instead of having multiple GC's.

We collect gift cards as well. Plus we buy Disney Dollars as stocking stuffers, Easter Egg fillers, tooth fairy etc. Plus we prepurchased vouchers from Get Away Today for the character meals. It was so nice to never pull out the debit or credit card!

I don't like having money sit on a GC. Sometimes problems come up with them. Not Disney ones- just in general. Like the money doesn't show up or something. Had that happen before. Also if an emergency came up, our money wouldn't be tied up in cards. We just know we are saving money as we go day to day not spending a lot of extra money. And when we get there, we know about how much we can spend and adjust where we eat and what.

If I really felt like I had to set money aside, I'd open a seprate savings account for Disneyland money and move money there every pay day. And it would be earning a little interest. :)
