Hi, I have a few questions about switching resorts. We are renting DVC points Sun-Thurs, but will be staying at another Disney Hotel for the weekend. So here are my questions.

1. How early can you check-in? Is is the same for DVC as non-DVC?

2. How early can you get into your room?

3. If you check in early and go to a park will they give you the key and then activate it when your room is ready or will you have to wait in line again?

4. What about refrigerator items? We will have a fridge at both hotels, but what do we do with our stuff when switching rooms?

5. If your park passes on your first hotel key will they transfer them to the new key? How does this work?

Thanks for any help you can give. I am just trying to understand the details of how this switching will work.

I can't help with all of them... but hopefully a few...

1. Check-in for DVC Resorts is 4:00PM, regular resorts are 3:00PM

2. You can get into your room as soon as it is ready! We've had to wait before, but also checked in at 10AM and gotten our room!

3. They will give you the key (your resort ID) and a phone number to call. Go do whatever it is you want to do, and call when they tell you, and they'll tell you whether it's ready or not!

4. Not sure about this one...

5. Not sure about this one either!

Have a great trip! Hopefully someone else can fill in the holes!

I can help with #4!! When our room wasn't ready at the YC and we had milk and other things that HAD to be refridgerated they took all of our perishables to the restaurant refridgerator for us. When our room was ready we just went there to pick our things up. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know about #5 or have other info that might be helpful regarding switching hotels?

Thanks
Kim:)

No, they won't put the extra days onto your second room key. You'll just use your first room key for the park pass and your second key for the room/charging.

Also, you can pre-check in before the actual check in time. We've checked in as early as 7:30 am. They stored our luggage, gave us our tickets/room keys and we were off!

I recommend calling ahead and requesting an early check-in. Of course, never a guarantee, but it would probably give you an edge over someone who walks in early that didn't request early check in. (I found this out when I checked in at 6 a.m., with a request for early check-in, during slow season, and the lady next to me was told her room was not ready.)

How far in advance do you need to make a request for early check in? We are staying at the Poly Concierge, do I just call the concierge desk and request early check in?
