Being somewhat new to this I'm hoping ya'll could answer a few questions!

1) I have read about DVC'ers booking nights for cash.
Are those rates 'rack' or are they usually discounted?

2) Say I have 200 points at my home resort, and I wish to book a ressie that would require say 220 points can I just book that reservation with the 200 points and pay cash for the balance?

3) In the above situation, can I book the cash portion of that home resort stay at the 11 month mark at the same time I book the point part of the reservation?

4) Do the same rules apply should I wish to use the 7 month window to book at a non-home resort?

If DVC determines that not all the rooms in the "points inventory" of available rooms are likley to end up booked for points, MS can offer members a 25% discount (off rack rate) for a room booked for cash. The member must be staying in the room and housekeeping services are the same as if the room were booked for points. The cash reservation is linked to the points reservataion and the member will not have to change rooms (or check out and back in again).

Availability of cash discounts is limited and are seldom available 11 months in advance. You can't count on getting one, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Members also often book a DVC room (for fridays or Saturdays) through CRO to get other discounts, such as the ones offered to annual passholders. These reservations cannot be linked to the points reservations (different systems) and the member runs a risk of having to change rooms. You at least have to check out and check back in again, even if you do't have to change rooms. You get normal housekeeping services if you book for cash through CRO.

No. You have to book in whole night increments and you can't mix cash and points to pay for the same night.

Depends completely on availability

Not sure what you mean - process/rules are the same no matter which resort you are interested in booking.

Best wishes -

Sometimes cash nights are not available. If they are, they are 25% off the rack rate. You can only pay cash or use points for a full night at a time. Sometimes you can't get a cash night until 60 days before (about the time they release the excess units to CRO for Disney reservations).
