Questions about Scoops

I have a few questions about Scoops:

-Is there an extra charge?

-What kind of ice cream do they have, and is it good?

-When are they open?

I read on this Board it is no longer hand-scooped, but soft serve. Cannot say from experience, but I hope to by June!

There is no charge for scoops,
they have soft serve either choc, vanilla or twist,.
you can choose your toppings of chocolate syrup, caramel and maybe another (DS only got choc. and caramel) and then extras like M&M's nuts, whip creme etc... DS (9) definately got his money's worth also there is fruit and cookies available.

oh wait, how often are they open? 24 hours, or only certain times in the day?

They are open during certain hours. Check out the Navigators on my website to see the times.
GenieDana, the ice cream is definitely not the wonderful hand-scooped stuff they used to have years ago. When they first changed it, we renamed it "Slops" on the old AOL message boards. It is the typical cheapie soft-serve stuff that kids like...the sort of thing you'd find at Ponderosa or Old Country Buffet.
But they do have EXCELLENT Columbo yogurt on Castaway Cay at the buffets for lunch...usually raspberry and cookie dough. I sure wish they served that at Scoops!

I miss those hand scooped cones too! But the soft serve is pretty tasty...especially with the fresh fruit (or choc sauce).

Fresh fruit...mmmm! I'm going to have to try that! I imagine it would be scrumptious with strawberries.

the columbo frozen yogurt sounds great! i'll have to keep my eyes open for that!

i was wondering about the hand-scooped stuff. on my last princess cruise, there was an extra-charge ice cream shop on board (haagen dazs, i think), but one afternoon they were giving out some free ice cream scoops around the corner. the ice cream came out of haagen dazs tubs, so i was thrilled with my freebie!

got back to the room and tasted it....it was TERRIBLE! i'm certain it was NOT haagen dazs....and that's why it was free.

the soft serve stuff is ok w/ me though.
