Questions about renting points

I just got accepted for financing. Now, I own points at SSr. If I want to stay at OKW, do I need to rent points from OKW? Is there a way that I can tell them when I call for the room that I'm using my points plus someone else's? Can someone give me some help?

First of all - Congratulations!!

You can use your points at OKW (or any other DVC property) but you can only book 7 months out. At SSR only you can book 11 months out.

If someone else is going to let you use or rent some of their points so that you can fill a whole reservation, you can link the two reservations together so that you don't have to move during your stay. Have the person you are getting points from make the first part of the reservation, get the confirmation number and give that to MS when making the second part of the reservation.

Or you could have the points transferred into your account and then you could do the whole thing yourself.

But you don't need to rent points unless you don't have enough for the reservation. As Mike has said, you can use SSR points at OKW at 7 months.

I still have a question.
Let's say I need 200 points and I want to stay at OKW, but my home resort is SSR. I have 150 points from my own account. If I rent points from someone, do the points need to be at OKW, or can I "buy" points at another resort and still use them at OKW?

On the rent/trade board, they list points at certain resorts. That's my question-can I use them anywhere regardless of the other owner's home resort?

At 7 months or sooner you can use them at any resort. It doesn't matter what the home resort is once you hit the 7 month window.

For you to use them in combination with your own you will have to have the other person make the reservation for you, then link the reservation or have the points transferred into your account.

What about just borrowing 50 points from next year? It would be a lot easier.
