Hi there,

We are looking to rent 165 additional points for a trip in Jan 2009. When we are looking to rent, I know we need to rent points from our home resort (BWV) in order to book within the 11 mo window. Beyond that, do I need to worry about the use year, etc. or do they need to be bankable/borrowable to be used in Jan 09? Am I making this more complicted than it is?

Thanks!

You need a transfer of 165 points with the same home resort as you have. You can only do one transfer in or out a year. You can't transfer banked or borrowed points, only current year points. But you can bank them after they are transferred into your account.

Thanks for your response. So, if I rent someone's 2008 points, I cna then bank them for the reservation and i'm ok? We have been 15 times on our DVC membership, but never transferring, and i dont want to mess it up.

You just need to use the right terminology. You need a transfer. Since members can only do one a year, they want to make sure this is the one they want to do.

You could also have another member make a reservation for you for part of the days you need then link them to your own reservation. That would preserve your one a year transfer.

That's a great trick! Thanks. :lovestruc

One other thought, if you have problems finding someone with the same resort (BWV) to rent you points, you could always switch resorts and spend half your stay at another resort. Something like 4 days at BWV and then 4 days at AKV or BCV, etc.

Since there is no January use year month, everyone will be in their 2008 use year for the month of January 2009.
