I've never used these before but I do get the "basics" of these (you buy the mug once and get free refills at your home resort for the length of your stay). My sister wants to purchase these from POP for her DD and her family as a surprise. My sister is going in Sept., then in March, she, DBIL, my nephew, my niece and her family are going back (think 'magical gathering' ;) ). She wanted to buy these in Sept for their use in March. Would she be able to do this? Do the resorts change their design yearly so that you can't use "last years" model? :confused3 Do you think they'll have any special design for the HCOE?

Thanks for any and all info!! :wave2:

OH Please , Everyone knows the answers to this and Every other question in regard to all of this bulldinky. Yes you are allowed to do anything you chose to do but don't refer me or anyone else when someone from the front desk asks you to please leave the premises. Has this happened, Well YES on more than 1 occasion and believe me it was not pretty!!! I am no one of importance please have a great time. :flower:

I don't believe this person was talking about reusing the mugs for more than one visit, but rather having someone interested in buying new ones on behalf of someone else -- in otherwords giving a gift. It would be nice to be able to give the mugs rather than the $12 in cash, but I'm not sure what the rules would be. You might call and ask the hotel dirrectly.

Since you get the "basics", that includes the idea that the mugs are good for the length of your stay. According to your post, unless your sister is staying at the resort from Sept. through March, the mugs are not being used during her "length of stay" but during two different visits." Seems like you answered your own question.

That said, I would suggest she email Disney to get an answer from them rather than depending on opinions expressed here.

this is a hot topic I think. I think I've seen debates on reusing the mugs.

I have seen people reuse them at the Moderate resorts over and over meaning they were the old mugs from 2 years before and patterns I did not recognize.

You are supposed to only use them for your length of stay.

Your question is however how can she buy them while she is there as a gift. I would call Disney and see if they can do like a welcome basket with them in there??????????

refillable mugs???? debates???? controversy???? am i missing something here????

You know, IF I would of wanted a sarcastic answer, I would of asked one of my teenage children. I was being quite serious in my question. Maybe I didn't make my question clear...........my sister wants to buy these mugs IN ADVANCE, for her daughter and her family (6 people in all). She does NOT intend to use these mugs. She wanted them for her DAUGHTER'S legnth of stay. My sister is checking into FW the same day as her daughter is checking into POP. She wanted to get the mugs for them early to kind of 'build' the anticipation (it will be their first trip to WDW).

I have been posting on these boards for years (user name changed 2 yrs ago) and I have to say I have never come across such attitude. :sad2:

Oh don't worry... You're not missing anything believe me! Every week, week after week... there's always a refillable mugs questions that turn into a debate and it turns very ugly and half of the time it gets locked up. If you hang around this Resort board long enough, you would know.

Then you've been around enough to know this is a loaded question. Even though the mugs are only good for the stay in which you purchase them you want to know if your sister can buy the mug, bring it back unused for use in a future stay?

1) Some cynics might think your sister will be using the mug during her initial stay,
2) You already know Disney isn't presently enforcing any rules so it probably won't matter but
3) How would any of us know if Disney is going to change the mug design and start enforcing the rules in 2006? IF Disney was going to start enforcing the rules I'd expect them to start with a new mug design, probably with the year on it.
4) I don't understand the purpose of buying a mug, not using it but packing it up to bring it home and then packing it up to bring it back.

NOT SURE OF THE PURPOSE OF YOUR POST. If your sister is planning point 1 and 2 go for it. If Disney doesn't care I don't.

If you're concerned with point 3 then don't buy the mug. Do you really want to explain that your sister bought the mug 6 months ago but even though it's the old design it was unused, or at least lightly used.

Sorry but your question doesn't make any sense, you may not deserve sarcastic answers but there really isn't any intelligent answers to your question.

I honestly never read any of the posts about the mugs. I know the 'basics' from reading! My sister wanted to give the mugs as GIFTS to her daughter and her family................sorry if this concept was too hard for anyone to follow.

Moderators, please shut this post down. I will contact WDW myself....I don't need this nonsense.

I don't think it is a stupid question or deserves sarcasim I think its a nice idea giving them as a gift to someone who will be arriving there! It would save them money on having to buy them themselves. I think I would do what another poster said either call the hotel and ask, or close to the trip charge them on a credit card over the phone if you can and have the hotel have them in thier room for them waiting with a little welcome note :cheer2:

She wanted to buy these in Sept for their use in March.

I love this idea! My sister brought me home a Blizzard Beach refillable mug last year, knowing that my D(?)S had ruined mine. Hmmmm. I think he still owes her for that!

I'd love to get a mug for Christmas (or any time!) to let me know that I was headed to WDW.

To the original poster. Ignore all the snide, sarcastic remarks. The comments are what sends new posters flying for cover! :duck: I don't care if there is a refillable mug post every week....I look for them! I'd love to know the answer btw. PLEASE let us know!
