I have a few questions about POR. We will be there from July 31-Aug 7. Never been there before, but it seems like most people who stay there like it. My questions are:

Is there a coffee maker and coffee in the room?
Is there an alarm clock in the room (my DH says every hotel has one, but I just want to be sure)?
And can you use towels from the room for the pool or should we bring or buy our own beach towels?

I think that is it for now. We are trying to make sure we have everything. I keep coming up with more stuff for the lists. I can't wait until we are finally there. Thanks for your help.

Yes, both coffee pot and coffee packets are in your room. Yes, there is a clock radio also. You can also have a wake-up call that is fun in the morning. As far as pool towels go....you can get them at the main pool on Ole Man Island. But the quiet pools didn't have them. So, you might want to bring your own beach towels or go to the main pool, grab some for the day.
We love POR. It's so beautiful to just walk around in the evening. Be sure to take the boat to DTD...that's a nice way to get there and the ride back at the end of the day is sooo peaceful.

Actually last time I stayed at POR (July 2004, Bayou Section) they had towels at the quiet pools, too -- at least at the one closest to our bldg.

We love POR. It is one of our favorite resorts. Be sure you go to the River Roast and see Bob Jackson or as we call him Cotton-Eye Joe. Make sure you introduce yourself to him, you will have a ball! He plays piano Tuesday-Saturday night.

We loved POR! Yes, they do have the coffee and coffee makers, along with a good sized dorm fridge. There is also the alarm clock, but we opted for the wakeup call in the mornings...there is a button on the phone you can push for this, I believe. Its all automated and very easy to do. As for the towels, I have no idea, but it looks as though you've gotten your answer....we stayed in December so it was too cold to swim. We're going in October though so this info is also very helpful to me! POR is wonderful...very charming. Have a great trip!

I haven't been there yet (will be there in Oct), but from what I have read regarding towels is that there is none at the quiet pools. If you want to use a towel at the quiet pool, you have to either get one from Ole Man Island or bring one from your room. I believe that I remember reading that there is a towel drop there too. The only disadvantage to bringing a room towel is that I have heard that some people have had a hard time getting replacements from housekeeping.

I do have an add'l question though...Does anyone know if they also provide non-dairy creamer...or do I have to bring some Lactaid milk.

Just back and the quiet pools did not have towels. We would go to the main pool area and bring them back for use at the quiet pool. There are receptacles for placing used towels at the quiet pools.

The creamer provided is the powdered kind.
