I am pretty sure that I understand the basics of trasfering points, it is some of the specifics that I am unsure about. Assuming that I get 100 points every UY of October:

1. what is the maximum amount of points I can have transferred into my account? My assumption is the same as my contract level, which in this case would be 100, correct?

2. once in my account, can i choose which points i use first (transferred vs my points)?

My thinking is i could purchase the maximum amount of points and use them first there by letting my spread the points out over multiple years like so:

[y1] +100 UY points +100 transfered points | use all transferred points + 25 UY points | bank remaining 75 UY points

[y2] +100 UY points +75 banked points | use all banked points + 50 UY points | bank remaining 50 UY points

[y3] +100 UY points +50 banked points | use all banked points + 75 UY points | bank remaining 25 UY point

[y4] +100 UY points +25 banked points | use all banked points + all UY points

[y5] repeat

by doing this, I am assuming that i can add points with out having to increase my contract and pay dues on the transfered point. Although I wonder if this a better value (long term) then just buying another contract at a low resale cost? Any tips, advice or answers are greatly appreciated.

The easiest way to answer: You can have transfered to you as many points as you want (there is no limit) as long as you do it only once per use year. Transfered points retain both the orginal owner's use year and resort identity (for purpose of 11 month reservation window). After a transfer, you can bank transfered points but then they must be used by the end of the use year into which they are banked. You can use whatever points you want for a trip, yours or the transfered points or both except you must obey the 11/7 reservation rule -- if your points are at one resort and the transfered points at another you can use your points to reserve 11 months out at your resort, the transfered points 11 months out at their resort, but you cannot use them both 11 months out at one resort. You do not pay dues on points transfered to you. Original owner is always one responsible for dues.

I might also add that MS has trouble applying transfered points and in our case made some mistakes. Our account was eventually corrected after several phone calls and a couple of weeks. Because of our experience, we won't transfer points again.

Did this happen recently with the new system? Or was it before the new system? Just curious.

This was before the change. The "new" system isn't really a DVC upgrade, DVC has attached it's self to the Disney CRO upgrade. In other words, Disney did a upgrade to their booking system and DVC is going to use the same booking system. It has nothing to do with the point system.

If you receive some transferred points and then bank them, does this rule under the banking section of the Home Resort Rules and Regs apply? What if the transferred points are the same as one of your home resorts?

The total number of Home Resort Vacation Points combined from Home Resort Vacation Points that are allotted, Banked and Borrowed may not exceed three-hundred percent (300%) of the Club Member's Home Resort Vacation Point allotment for the current Use Year.
