Questions about modifying a DVC reservation

I know I will heading down to WDW for a few days and my 7-month window is coming up. While I have a fairly good idea of which week I will be going, I am uncertain of my actual arrival day at this time. So, would it be better if I split up the reservation into two, with the first day on one reservation and the rest on a different one? Or just make one reservation and ask a CM to remove the first day as needed? Which strategy would allow for an easier modification later? Any other pointers you might want to share? TIA.

I would also just make one reservation unless you have to waitlist. Then I would break it up.
