First time staying at AK, and was wondering if anyone stayed at the club level, 6th floor, at Jambo and was the amenities worth the stay? Thanks

"worth it" is a relative term. It takes a lot of points, but we've done it several times and will definitely do it again in the future. The food is really good most of the day, the cast members are especially helpful, and it's a great place to sit and relax. I love getting up in the morning and just taking that extremely short walk out to the lounge for breakfast. If it's not too full, we'll grab a table. If it is too full (and mornings can draw a crowd with people heading out to the parks!), we take it back to the room!

If you decide to try to book a club room with DVC points at Jambo, just know it's one of the most difficult rooms to book in the DVC portfolio! There are only 5 1BR and 5 studios, and they go very fast at 11 months. Good luck - hope you get to experience the AKL club level!

To add; if someone books a 2 bedroom, it takes out one of each as they are all lock offs.

Flip side is true…If either a studio or 1 bedroom is hooked, it takes out a 2 bedroom.

We are not fans of staying at AKV so for us, the club level amenities the few times we were able to get a night, don’t not outweigh the location.

However, having CL if staying there works for you, IMO it is worth it, especially if you are not dong park touring from sun up to sun down or doing some resort time.

As already mentioned, they are the hardest to get for owners so most get shut out, even when on right at 11 months at 8 am.

I think you need to start by looking at two things:
a) The hours that the lounge serves food
b) The menu

If you plan to leave the hotel every morning before the lounge starts serving breakfast, that might impact whether you think it is "worth it."

If you have picky eaters who won't eat the food that is served in the lounge, that might impact whether you think it is "worth it."

As PP mentioned, even if you think it is worth it, you might not be able to book it. There are only 5 studios and 5 one-bedroom villas. If somebody manages to book a two-bedroom lock-off, that pulls a studio and a one-bedroom out.

Thanks everyone for your insightful thoughts and comments. We are planning to use the resorts more for this trip than the parks so I think we will utilize the club floor and amenities.
We’re excited about our stay scheduled for late August

I think it's worth it, especially toward the end of a trip where you start winding down and just wanting to relax in the room after multiple park days. It's so nice to walk out of your room and basically have club level right there waiting for you with all the snacks and drinks. Financially not worth but from a convenience standpoint absolutely.

We stayed in a 1BR for a few nights for 5 of us and we loved it. Will love when we get to go again once the refurb is over.

I view our dues as sunk cost so being able to use points for some of the food bill in a way was nice!

We've stayed in a one bedroom 3-4 times and always enjoyed it. Don't expect full meals to be offered but the morning offerings could easily be considered a full breakfast. They will give you "to-go" containers to take things back to your room, just ask.

We have been extremely fortunate in getting AK CL studio rooms three times. On two of the trips, we did minimal park visits so for us, CL was worth it. I know it is hard to book but if we get another reservation it will be for a resort stay only . For us, the food and the evening liquor offerings definitely made it worth while!

Wow, any tips for snagging those? My home is AKL and I've never had a chance to book these even when logging on at the suggested times.

Persistence. There are definitely times of the year that are less popular than others. Also, even if you're days aren't available right at 11 months when you want to book, keep checking back a few days after - sometimes they become available afterwards due to people walking reservations. Also, we've found it's way more likely we can grab a 1BR some years - studios are very, very elusive!

We are retired so we really have open availability. I constantly check any 7 month availability. if I see any openings, I immediately book it and tell my husband later that we’re going!!

So you grab the odd opportunity for a room 7 months out, and then plan the trip around it? That's very flexible!! I like it! And you've had luck 7 months out? We barely see anything over the years at 11........
